I think it's a mind game thing going on. Motivating people to step it up. TBH, He's saying he's the starting for the spring. Now, Summer and Fall is whole different game.

Yeah we got a way to go before East Carolina comes to town. Of course if this dude is the real deal and turns out to be the reincarnation of Andre Smith, that’s a good thing because bottom line, if we’re not better up front we’re going to be in a world of hurt.

The right way for me is like the other poster said. I’ll have a wait and see. One of things I miss from the Saban years is the head coaches speaks for all coaches except for a couple times a year.

Wouldn’t have guessed Brooks or Walden, interesting.

We went like two decades starting true freshman tackles every few years
Somehow a redshirt freshman 5 star is a story?

There was a reason Saban very rarely let coaches speak to the media.

Years ago Coach Bryant had no issues with letting the media talk to assistant coaches but the media had the good sense and discretion not to put them on too high a pedestal and give them too much of a spotlight. Now everyone is looking for the spectacular quote or sound bite. Plus a lot of assistant coaches especially the almighty coordinators have become superstars in a lot of people’s eyes.
You talked to the position coaches mostly for background because they were the ones who had the closest regular interaction with players and gave you the real deal on what was going on. But you never burned those people or got them in trouble with the head coach. Different times.

They just got off of Spring Break, I believe.
Saw some videos of a few players that were training with private coaches during the break.

Yep, makes sense . Don’t know what I was thinking

You'll know more when they scrimmage.

Not inside info but I heard on radio that they are moving Carroll around at guard and looking at the MSST guy at RT. I think this is common in the spring though.

Carroll could probably play literally every spot on the OL but IMO, guard would seem to be his more natural position. Of course, that's just my guess.

I think his highest ceiling is at guard, but Im not worried as long as hes healthy regardless of where he lands.
What this tells me is that likely James is better at RT than what we have at RG so we will see if Carroll and him can work effectively that way and if not they'll try something else.
Everything I heard from Washington fans said that DeBoer wanted Tackles that moved like TEs, Guards that moved like Tackles and to be playing in space.
Carroll moving inside certainly indicates to me they're trying to head in that direction.

I'm not really invested in who ends up at what position on the OLine. The only thing I don't want to see is musical chairs every drive during games.
I get that it gives more guys playing time and experience for later in the year, but how about just having the five best out there for the majority of snaps?
