According to Tim Watts:

A couple things we've been told and it's still early so news could break throughout the day. But kind of touching on some of yesterday and last night's happening:

-As we said last night multiple people near the Oregon program have insisted Dan Lanning was in Eugene with his family last night. This is solely addressing the numerous reports that said he was in Tuscaloosa. Which we said we couldn't confirm (and took a little heat for it.) I've had several ask me about those reports, but we don't know why it was reported. Best to ask those that did report. But it should be noted that Lanning wouldn't have to come to Tuscaloosa to interview anyway He would either be taking the job or not if offered.

-We are being told this morning that the Oregon side expects a statement from Lanning this morning. Do not know the details or how it will be released. But FYI it is expected. We should know at least somewhat more after on DL. The Oregon side is confident he stays. That is just an FYI it is NOT saying Alabama couldn't be involved now or later. But the latest we have this morning.

We haven't had to pay a buyout of any kind to anyone in 17 years. 20 mil is a fraction of what all other teams have spent in that time period

I feel like Lanning would be a solid choice to take the reins and keep it between the ditches. I love Lane and feel like he is much higher risk but he also could have a higher ceiling because of how aggressive he is and him being an offensive genius.

AL.com says he wasn't in Tuscaloosa last night as of a couple of hours ago.

Yeah, some people are forgetting just how much money UA has. The football program has been a very good investment, to say the least.

I'm personally not a big fan of Deboer. Just doesn't feel like a good fit.

Most likely Schuman or Trob. Tosh in some recruiting capacity and LB’s.

I’m just passing on what I’m getting. It could be someone we aren’t thinking. I however do think this source is right but he isn’t always right…

Tim has a way of saying a lot while saying nothing. I can't believe people pay for that shite.

I would think Byrne would ask Coach Saban on who he’d recommend

Yeah. They’ve been blindsided on a lot of stuff lately. Not sure I’ll be renewing next year.

Furthermore, an entity with the creditworthiness of the CTF could do all sorts of financial games to minimize the short term bump of the payout.
