BOL said. Message board “insiders” said. A tv reporter in Oregon said. Been through this too many times. TV reporters never break anything and usually spout a lot of false information. And I’ve literally seen false rumors posted originally on a sports message board, get spread around and reposted posted later by another poster which is seen as confirmation. Tis the silly season again.

Anyway, as to the odds being take down. Bama coaching odds - live.

I need to go to bed cause I have classes tomorrow, but I can’t sleep. Everyone is gonna be so depressed, I dread it.

Can't believe Norvell has the fourth highest odds. No clue why this clown is being mentioned at all.

A bunch of the people listed there aren't active coaches or have never even been coaches at all.

I personally would love Kaleb Deboer more than any of them. He seems to be a great game day coach and he’s just 49 years old. Not too young or too old.

And he’s not under the category of what used to plague Alabama after Bryant with “one of the boys”.

Alabama needs fresh new ideas not associated with the program and Deboer fits the bill in my opinion.

He coached a pretty bad game against Michigan, and he came close to a few real duds this season too

Reeks of a Harsin culture clash for me outside of that

Norvell completely embarrassed himself with his comments, then had (told?) all his players to quit on the season and suffered the worst bowl loss in college football history. It would be funny to see the melt but his career record is just 69-32. I'm unimpressed.

Agreed. Norvell would be terrible. He shouldn’t even be on the list.

Talk about entertaining as I had someone text me they heard a rumor about Carroll coming to UA.

Being completely honest, this is not how I saw all of this going down. It seems very abrupt. Maybe there was more behind the scenes… but going from working on staff hire this morning to retiring… seems crazy

Maybe while working said not doing this anymore and decided to get it over with who knows.

Personally, I think this has been in the works and not surprised if a replacement was already known. We will find out soon enough if a hire comes quick or this becomes a circus.

A lot of things going on inside and the one thing to watch now is the portal. If a plan is in place, we will not see much movement but if not and this truly caught everyone by surprise, we are going to start seeing names hit the portal starting today.

When I went to bed last night this thread was at about 16 pages. When I woke up this morning in the Netherlands [where the ‘NL’ in the name comes from, which country is often also called ‘Holland’, a small country in Europe, bordering on Belgium in the south and Germany in  the east, where we speak Dutch, where I live and work as a (sports) lawyer, not as an expat or a military man (I am just from here)], it was at 39 pages! Filled with teasers, conflicting information and rumors, but no new head coach and sadly, more references to serious health issues…

I melted hard yesterday when I read that Coach Saban retired. Woke up this morning feeling despondent. If we don’t land Lanning or Kiffin I will be very disappointed. Kirby isn’t leaving Georgia and we can’t outbid Texas for Sark. Dabo is a no for me. I hope we have something in place by tomorrow at latest. Roll Tide!

I’m pretty much in line with everything you said, Hoyt. Lanning and Kiffin are my top 2 (assuming we can’t get Smart or Sark, which I don’t think we will). If we don’t land one of them, I will probably be dissapointed.

It’s just so weird to think that Nick Saban is no longer the head football coach at Alabama.

It’s Lanning or Kiffin. Kiffin wants it bad. Thats what I know right now. I think Lanning is the one who decides.

I’m sad. Happy for Coach though. He deserves to enjoy his fruits. I don’t care who we get, it will be a drop off and the dude that takes the job is screwed.
