I can't remember whether I saw it mention in an article or on the board.

I'll honestly say my honest opinion on Coach Prime here but I don't have the time so, y'all can wait
I'm going back to this.
Coach Prime left for Colorado this week, and it was purely a business decision. He didn't leave Jackson State because he hated it, or thought it was beneath him, but because he eventually wanted to coach in the P5 and CU gave him that opportunity. TBH, it was somewhat a shock to me considering that USF might be right his alley, easier to recruit and has foundations that he can flourish in, but I can see why he moved to CU.
Prime said his main goal was to bring Jackson State (cited from his 60 Minutes interview) and HBCU's in the sportlight and even though his time at JSU was short, he definitely put HBCU's/SWAC/JSU back in the spotlight. My cousin is a JSU alum and he's really grateful to Coach Prime for helping his school out on the field and off it. He said he was sad to see him go but wishes him success. You can really see his impact to this community and his players.
What really struck out to me is when he told all the Colorado players that they can leave:
quote:
“We got a few positions already taken care of, because I’m bringing my luggage with me — and it’s Louis [Vuitton]. Okay, it ain’t gonna be no more of the mess that these wonderful fans, the student body, and some of your parents have put up with ... for probably two decades now. I’m comin’ and when I get here it’s gonna be changed. So I wan’t y’all to get ready, to go ahead and jump in that portal, and do whatever you’re gonna get, because the more of you jump in, the more room we make, because we’re bringing in kids who are smart, say that, tough.”
This man has big ambitions and he's ready to make his mark on the Pac-12 and the FBS/P5 as a whole. The only problem is: Can CU afford him? Mel Tucker left CU for that reason and I don't think CU has that kind of money. It feels like CU might be hiring Prime to bypass NIL deals..but we don't know that.
Whether this works out is to be determined, but I believe Coach Prime (or Deion, whatever you wanna call him
That's my honest and somewhat thoughtout opinion, have a nice day

I see EJ Williams is in from Clemson. From AL and we offered just not sure how his season went. He is 6'4 but again not sure if we are interested or how he has played.

Also a backup QB for UNC is in the portal. With Maye there I guess he sees the writing on the wall.

If this was really said publicly, it's a bullshite way to deal with the players. I understand that some players would need to go, but you don't handle it that way. Making a blanket public statement to all players that they need to leave because they aren't smart/tough. come on.

I do agree about your point, it was rude and bullshite - but he wants to present himself as the biggest in the room, and I guess that's the way to do that

Might also have something to do with Brown claiming that 15 programs are tampering with Maye

Man, that's fricked up. He's going to need some of those guys to play hard for him. He can't replace the whole damn team.

The message to the players I think is fine. Colorado went 1-11 and was overall horrible. They need someone to shake it up.
Him putting everything on camera to build his own brand is what bothers me.

Agreed. Colorado is real bad team. He has to inject something into the player and program. Half of the kids will be gone this time next year and it'll be huge upgrade.

The young men Deion wants as players don't have a problem with anything Deion is doing. That's what many of you are missing. This isn't about Deion building his brand. Deion has a brand. Hell, Deion is on AFLAC commercials and doing voice over work on Subway commercials. The filming Deion does is about marketing to athletes.

by telling an ENTIRE team publicly that that aren't smart or tough and need to leave? He's going to need a lot of those guys next season. Maybe I'm soft or something but don't see it as a right way to build a team.

What's hilarious is Deion talking about toughness. He had more no-hitters in his career than Nolan Ryan.

Deion sees those guys who are part of a 1-11 team as losers until they prove to him otherwise. Right now those guys are their record. Many great coaches believe in tearing athletes down and rebuilding them into what they (the coach) desires mentally and physically.

And, as an Alabama fan I'm surprised. Part of Saban's process is processing guys who aren't up to his performance standards off the team.

To clarify, he told them to leave/transfer, correct? You can't rebuild a player that isn't on your roster. That's the point I'm making.

In case anyone wants to listen to it for themselves

Anything from us on Tunmise Adeleye?
I just remember Bama recruiting him. He was a top 50 player.
