1. Great win against a decent and physical Wisconsin team. Liked the offensive gameplan vs the Badgers. They were determined to try and stop the run and apparently had no faith that Ty could throw the ball. Didn't work out so well for them.

2. Ty continues to impress. Is he perfect and does he never make mistakes? Nope, but he's getting better and better. He's learning to trust his receivers to make catches and you can see he's getting more and more confident. He made some tough throws yesterday, sometimes when he knew he was going to get leveled by standing in the pocket. That's some courage right there I guarantee most of us wouldn't have in that situation.

3. Offensive line played fairly well. Not great by any means but at least adequate and I sense Grubb has schemed around the glaring weakness of the tackles.

4. Very impressed with the defense. Guys played hard and with emotion. Loved seeing the sacks and two INTs. Hubbard played like he was angry. Easily our most physical DB. The young DL continue to do fairly well. They've had to grow up fast out there.

5. Other than the KO return for a TD, special teams were solid. Pleasantly surprised by punter Blake Doud. Only had two punts but had a 45.5 avg. Not too shabby for a guy from the Colorado School of Mines.

6. WEAK officiating out there. I have NEVER seen a penalty for a player running into a referee. Wisconsin was holding their asses off all day and I think they only got called once for holding. I remember one time, a Wisconsin OL was literally bear hugging Yonzae Pierre right in front of the ref and no call.

7. I hope like hell Tim Keenan and LT Overton are back for UGA in two weeks. We're gonna need 'em.

8. Some surprising games yesterday. Glad to see A&M beat Notre Dame. Really surprised to see Vandy spank South Carolina but I think LaNorris Sellers was hurt and didn't play most of the game. Glad to see GT beat Clemson (always good to see former CNS assistants do well).

9. Billy Napier is dead man coaching. Some of the names thrown around to replace him are deluional, Dan Lanning, Lane Kiffin. More likely and realistic names are Glen Schumann and Matt Campbell.

10. Glad for the bye week. I know there are a lot of guys beat up and need the rest and time to heal. Hopefully, we'll have everybody back and ready to go in two weeks and shock the world by beating UGA in their house.

Agree on both points. Second week in a row with a great plan and great execution.

2. Ty continues to impress.

If he gets his feet set he’s proven now he can unlock the downfield passing game. Can our OL keep him from getting happy feet against teams with equal talent is the question because the road is about to get insanely hard from here.

Pass pro? They were good.
Run blocking? We aren’t anywhere close tonight being a plus unit

Agree with all of that.

We need Jam as well to grab an extra YPC or two in the run game IMO.

Riley is very good for his age, but he needs size to take on UGA/TN/OU etc IMO

Good stuff but I don’t think Sellers would have made a difference against Vandy. South Carolina fans on their boards are saying he wouldn’t have, they are bemoaning their porous offensive line … the defender who put Sellers out was basically unblocked … and crucifying Mike Shula for his play calling.

I don’t know how much of it will show in the record because their schedule moving forward is pretty stiff but to my eyes Vandy was simply better than South Carolina and they are much better than last year. The improvement is in their defense, they swarm and hit brutally. They will beat someone, maybe more than one, they’re “not supposed to beat,” I just hope we saved the receipts from last year and are ready for them.

They played hard but they still have a lot of issues.
They run around looking like Keystone cops in pursuit still.
Number 0 takes plays off.
Wisconsin used some motion and misdirection plays which worked well. The front seven guys fall for it every time.
One play Bray Hubbard lit up the Rb however it should have been a tackle at the LOS. LB just missed the tackle.
Our front 7 is very average but they’ve played hard the last two games.
Edited to say number 2 is nothing special in coverage.

Kiffin would jump at the offer and would be a good fit.

Like I said in another thread, while we absolutely do need to pick it up on the ground, yesterday may not have been a good gauge because we were playing an opponent with a stellar run defense. Even if the OL graded 100%, we were going to have trouble running against that bunch especially with them stacking the box and daring us to pass.

You’re wasting your breath trying to explain that. The trolls on here and other boards are constantly looking for something negative to bitch about. If we had run the ball well and put up 300 yards the same tools would be bashing Ty and calling for him to be replaced. Rinse, wash, repeat.

I agree they were trying to take away the run at times.

I would also point out that just like the last two weeks even on the plays where they didn’t have numbers we weren’t winning many blocking assignments with them and the LOS was basically neutral meaning we weren’t getting any push one on one.

Seeing it in person yesterday drove it home: we don’t have anyone we can follow on short yardage and be confident of getting two yards before contact right now.

That’s been another of my concerns with Proctor. At his size I get struggling with the edge guys, but he should be bending guys backwards and getting push which just isn’t there.

Honestly in short yardage we don’t need to hide it. Put in an extra TE, let the RB lead block and let Ty run. I feel better about that.

I think Wisconsin is much worse than last year and they were a 5-7 team last year. Last year they had a good OL but a bad overall offense. This year they didn't even have the good OL. Their front seven was solid. Playing FSU and Wisconsin ought to have given our offense a pretty good test in out-of-conference. The big difference between FSU and Wisconsin's defense is the secondary. FSU's secondary played very well, particularly their safeties, while Wisconsin's may be one of the worst power conference secondaries we see this year.

Yeah I don’t want to give the impression that I think Wisky is a great team. They’re an average to mediocre team with a stout rushing defense. That could keep them in some games.

There’s a group of Bama fans who IMO would rather win a certain way than just win.

Records depend on schedule draw and when you catch teams as they work their schedule (injuries, exertion, etc). So I will not predict a record but I do not think they're better than their 2024 outfit purely as a product on the field. They may go 7-5 this year even though they went 5-7 last year though...who knows...

He got hurt about a minute before halftime.

Vandy was winning that game regardless.

To be fair, they'll likely be tied with guaranteed "playoff locks" Oregon and Penn State entering the fourth quarter... which doesn't sound like much until we're passed over for both of those teams again.

Our team was literally a play or two away from that being a 45 or 48-7 beating. And we did it with several star players sitting out. Still, we can count on the same message board trolls and media people trying to make a name for themselves to create a toxic environment around Alabama football.

I agree with your list completely. Big dick Bray coming on was needed. Simpson looking like AJ with Bryce pocket presence. I’ll single out Simmons- he didn’t look like a freshman much at all out there, and Isaiah Horton is pretty unsung, seems to have very reliable hands and his blocking doesn’t get enough praise. His effort has been great to see
