Look I've acknowledged JH has shortcomings , never said he's perfect. I'm not alone I think in noticing that some have something personal against him and I wouldn't even know what it is. Of course mccarron played with Cooper , but do u honestly think GMAC and jpw were more talented ? I'm not slighting u I'm truly asking.

I never even mentioned JPW or McElroy but I'd take McElroy right now for the game tomorrow night.

I am not taking a shot at Hurts and have been 100% behind him so in the future you may want to read other posts if you are going to call someone out. I made an observation back early in the fall but have no issue with Hurts as our starter.

And I’m sorry Boz, but I don’t like Hurt’s quote. “I just have to stay true to myself, do what’s gotten me here,” Hurts said. “At the end of the day, this is my team. These are my guys, and my guys believe 100 percent in me.” I, myself, me, my, my, my, me Seven times in three sentences. I’ve never heard a Bama qb say something like this before.

Hurts IMO is taking ownership of the team and that includes the failures. Good leaders do that, when I was in command and my troops fricked up I took responsibility for it. The team does support Jalen, and respect the coaches decision that includes replacing him if need be.

This is a firecracker of a thread you started. A lot of interesting revelations and disturbing stuff. You can cut the tension with a knife.

Good job Shaft. We should keep this thread going.

There really shouldn't be tension but the QB position at Alabama has been debated almost my entire life. I think we have 2 talented QBs that both bring something to the table and from everything I know are also good young men off the field. I'd take my chances with them over a shitbag that runs around like an idiot.

But don’t you think there is a little self absorption there? Isn’t it just a little different from what QBs normally say. It’s for the coach to say “this is your team.” It just seems odd coming from a player.

Could he be getting defensive about some of the criticism?

And what about the other players comments? To me, they fact that there is such talk indicates a void of leadership and respect. I mean we can say that someone is a “leader” but that normally manifests itself differently.

And then you have Tua reassuring him that it’s “his team”. Why does Tua need to reassure him? Tua was quoted as saying that they had both heard about the qb controversy and that he tells Jalen that it’s “your team”.

I don’t know. It seems like people try too hard to make it seem like there is unity and 100% faith in one guy. And that makes me wonder. I just don’t remember this sort of dynamic before.

C'mon now we re questioning if JH is selfish now? I would think he hears some of the criticism and I'm sure it gets old. But I don't think selfish is in his DNA.

We are definitely not lacking leaders on the team we are lacking the vocal get in your face leader. For whatever reason. Ryan Anderson was a guy that would fight you if you messed and played around at practice.

Well I got nothing against Jalen. I really don’t. But I am proud of the way Tua answered the whole “qb controversy” pot stirring by the media and a bit underwhelmed by Jalen’s comments about this being his team and how he garners 100% support. Just don’t care for it.

I don't think anyone will have the answer for this question until Saban decides to pull the trigger. If we get down 10+ early, due to bad offense. I can see Saban pull the trigger. We have NOTHING to lose and we've seen Saban say many many times do something to regain momentum. He will do it again.

Agreed. Remember, this was the'conservative' coach that sprung an onsides kick on Climpson in Episode 1 of the trilogy.

Like I said earlier, I don't think Saban will wait until we are down to pull Jalen for Tua. Saban has a sample size of 26 starts plus innumerable practices to gauge Jalen's QB ability. I think if the offense is stalling regardless of score Tua is coming in. And, I keep saying I don't see this Clemson offense scoring much if we aren't turning the ball over and giving them great field position.

Pretty much where I am. I think he comes in if we struggle on O. But Clemson also isn’t that great on O. So at minimum our Def should keep them pinned down and JK kicking it deep.

Not trying to fan any flames here, but if you rank the 6 Saban era QBs by arm talent (putting McElroy ahead of JPW), the top half have won a national title; the bottom half haven’t.

The thread was shut down because the tone became decidedly critical. But it was clear from his comments that we have serious qb issues that have to be resolved in this game. The amazing thing is, Saban’ s own comments were downvotes overwhelmingly by the board. And reporting his comments from New Orleans was apparently deemed inappropriate.

He even went into this thing about the qb change at San Francisco and the positive effect it had from top to bottom. It was a real revelation and a hopeful sign albeit a troubling one for many in this board.

At least we can discuss it here in the Tua leper colony thread.
