Not going to start a new thread. The reason clemson chose a smaller setting to practice is to have it as a closed practice, and said the dome had too many eyes. Makes sense, hell Laura Rutledge was talking about how tua was throwing dimes and Damien getting a ton of work.

Venables is going to be prepared for our short passes and running the perimeter. Hope we can still run what we practiced if not I hope daboll will adjust quickly tomorrow night.

Why Hurts Frustrates Alabama WRs

Robert Foster with some insightful comments on WRs not Calvin Ridley not getting the ball. Confirms what many of us have said. Ridley confirms Foster's comments.

So why has Ridley been thrown to so many more times than anyone else on the team? Senior receiver Robert Foster, who has 11 catches for 146 yards, believes receivers are not at fault for the discrepancy.

“I don’t think it’s us as receivers that need to step up,” Foster said. “It’s just that I feel like we’re all doing our job, but wherever the quarterback chooses to throw the ball is his decision.”

Foster went on to say that it is tough when you feel like you are getting open, but the ball isn’t coming your way.

“It’s definitely been frustrating in my eyes,” he said. “It’s not that we’re not doing our job. It’s not that we’re not getting open for him. It’s just whatever decision that he’s making to place the ball is where he’s putting the ball.”

Even though it has not happened yet, fellow receiver Cam Sims believes the rest of the receiving corps will be more involved in the offense against Clemson, particularly if the Tigers put a lot of focus on stopping Ridley.

“They can try to do that,” Sims said. “I ain’t gonna say it would be a bad thing for them. But it ain’t gonna be a good thing for them either.”

Ridley, a Florida native, added that he is hopeful Alabama will spread the ball around more against the Tigers.

He feels confident that the other receivers on the roster are ready to step up.

“We just haven’t gotten the ball to them. That’s all I can say,” Ridley responded when asked why he has 42 more catches than the Crimson Tide’s No. 2 receiver.

“The guys in my room, they have all the talent to go out there and make a bunch of catches, a bunch of plays. And they are going to do it.”

No way man. I said early in the season that the receivers were getting frustrated, but was told I was wrong. First Ridley finally goes off about it, and now Foster is admitting it because he won't be back next year anyway. Those returning can't say much right now, but you can bet they haven't been happy about the lack of a bona fide passing game.

edit: and besides the current receivers not being happy, this shitty offense, if it doesn't change, will eventually hurt recruiting.

In the past I wouldn't have agreed with you because I thought Hurts would make that "leap" and become a legitimate QB. But, after two seasons I confidently believe it won't happen. It's time to move on.

Foster can bitch all he wants, but he hasn’t always delivered when Jalen throws the ball to him.

I don’t mind the other wide receivers feeling that way, though.

Saban said the same thing in New Orleans yesterday. It was one of his direct quotes. He said we had weapons and needed better decision making to get them the ball. The thread was shut down, but you can still read coaches comments.

He has said that all year. I don’t think anyone has disagreed with him.

Yeah, I saw that thread and went back and found the press conference where Saban said that.

Shocking. Just kidding. Of course the WR's are frustrated. Everyone not in denial knew that.

He said it four times over about five minutes.

He continued to stress qb decision making yesterday and didn’t balance it with the usual stuff about it’s a team game and everyone has to do their job etc... It was clearly a revelation and, when you break his comments down, has to be interpreted as indicative of a deep frustration on Coach’s part following the Auburn debacle.

The thread was shut down because the tone became decidedly critical. But it was clear from his comments that we have serious qb issues that have to be resolved in this game. The amazing thing is, Saban’ s own comments were downvotes overwhelmingly by the board. And reporting his comments from New Orleans was apparently deemed inappropriate.

He even went into this thing about the qb change at San Francisco and the positive effect it had from top to bottom. It was a real revelation and a hopeful sign albeit a troubling one for many in this board.

At least we can discuss it here in the Tua leper colony thread.

They should check themselves first.

Their frustration should start with all of their drops this season.

"The Tua leper colony thread." LOL

Saban is so great because he gets the most of what he has. But, he hasn't gotten that out of the QB position this season and last season. The game managing QBs Saban has had at Bama were because of circumstance. If Saban has a QB that can slang the ball he will allow the QB to do so. And, I remember him doing that with Tony Banks at MSU and Rohan Davey at LSU.

“I just have to stay true to myself, do what’s gotten me here,” Hurts said. “At the end of the day, this is my team. These are my guys, and my guys believe 100 percent in me.”

This I can agree with you on. I to was hammered for saying this I think back in September. I think the WRs have shown frustration and why it appeared at times some may have given up on their routes. Even though most of the time it was garbage time for Tua there always looked to be a better rhythm out there. But in the end for us to win our run game has to be on point with the OL playing great.

Yet another shot at hurts from one of our "fans". I agree Ridley should stfu and check himself and the others on their drops. Im almost ready for his arse to be gone. Julio and Cooper had less talented QBs than him to work with and they never bitched and moaned.

He’s not delusional at all. It’s his team until it’s not if you understand what I’m saying.

Foster literally can’t say shite, every chance he’s been given he fricks it up minus his TD against the mighty Colorado State.

The WR’s need to do their job and forget the rest of the BS. If they cause a divide now because of selfishness we will lose.
