Jalen Hurts is my favorite Alabama quarterback. I was a vocal proponent of benching him, but I am a huge fan of him as a person. Hurts had some very bad games but nothing even close to the lows of Milroe. And he was a true leader. The difference between Hurts' response to being benched and Milroe's tells you everything. I dislike how often I see them discussed in the same sentence.

If you want a comparison for Milroe in terms of play, you have to look at backup walk-ons. If you want a comparison in terms of being low character and toxic in the locker room, perhaps you'd say DJ Hall, but there has never been a quarterback with a personality like this at Alabama.

Meh! The players and fans like you should learn to expect more of it since these guys are now professional players earning more than their positions coaches on staff.

I don’t think we should compare today’s players to pre-nil players.
Along those lines, some will hold jm in similar regard to cdf.

Listen it’s time to move on from the Milroe era. Sometimes he’s a world beater, and sometimes he handicaps the offense terribly. But let’s just root for the team to finish the year strong, hope Milroe can get drafted and have an NFL career, and see him off amicably. No reason for the fan base to turn toxic and pile on him at this point.

Paid players are fair game for open criticism. Gone are the days of guys busting tail for the university out of love (and maybe some helpful handshakes) and therefore deserving some protection.

You left out one important stat. Hurts only had 1 int in 2017. Milroe has thrown 9 this year.

Hurts also a good excuse of being a young player. Milroe is in his 4th year but is still making the same mistakes as he did at the start of last year

He has been a great ambassador for the school, his play on the field has nothing to do with how he representing the school and there has been no allegations of anything compared to his character. However, with all that said I'll take Blake Sims over Milroe anyday of the week.

I also left out rushing TDs, which is an ever larger margin. I think hurts 2017 is up a fumble lost or 2 on milroe, but milroe isn't done. There's only so much I could fit in a screenshot, especially when doing a side by side. The stats are about as similar as their first names.

Jalen Hurts probably loses to uga this season and is 10-1.
Tua is 11-0 right now.
Mac 11-0.
Jake Coker is 11-0.
AJ is 11-0.
Blake Sims is 10-1, maybe even 11-0.

It isn't coaching. It isn't defense.
JPW and McElroy are probably 10-1 right now on this team.

Yep. Heck, I’d be willing to bet that Blake Sims would have a better record. He at least improved in 2014.

JPW doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves.

Homie was 12-0 with a lead in the 4th qtr of the SECCG vs the eventual national champs.
If he had more eligibility in 2009, he gets a ring.

Hurts had about 2X the rushing yards as Milroe and was useful on designed runs

The larger issue with Hurts was the passing game was limited, but we still averaged a much more proficient offense that what we have with Milroe in conference play. He was a much better runner than Milroe, not speed wise but just overall vision, breaking tackles, and knowing when to run

With Hurts were probably 11-1 this season

Hurts also had OCs that would hand the ball off to the RBs.

Hurts lit it up for Lincoln Riley. The problem was Hurts had to play in front of a generational qb that pushed him out of his starting job.
Hurts was great at OU.

Go to the BOL round table. There are posters there who will attack you like animals for criticizing Milroe. CrimsonKing16 is the worst. Others are bad. Anyone who defends him is an idiot or troll.

Through 11 games milroe is at 615, through 14 2017 hurts was at 855 yards. That's up a 3rd, with some games left. 56 yards a game vs 61 is pretty darn similar to me.

3rd % under milroe 45.38 to hurts at 41.14, and that's if we forget how many 3 and outs hurts delivered. Unfortunately i could not find that exact stat for either year to compare. Both teams averaged the same 6.6 yards per play.
