Opposite for me - I am actually much more excited about him being the starter next year after last night. I am afraid Taulia will transfer after seeing him perform.

I expect to see Taulia in whatever bowl game we play. I expect he's a competitor, like his brother is. Being such a competitor is one reason Tua holds the ball too long sometimes, trying to make a play. So being a competitor, I also expect to see him in spring practice, trying to win the starting position, and though I was encouraged about Mac's passing game yesterday, and his presence in the pocket, I wouldn't be surprised if Taulia is the starting qb in the first game. Hopefully it will be a good competition with those 2 and Young. Speaking of which, if Young is as good as reported, I won't be surprised, either, if he's the guy. College football is just changing so much even the last 5 years.

Unless "the tough play" here involves being able to see out of the side of his helmet there was no way Najee could have caught that ball. If it was placed over his right shoulder it's an easy TD.

It appeared that Najee saw and reacted to the ball. Regardless it is not a play that you can expect to be made.

The point is that that one really freaky play shouldn't completely define our evaluation

This Auburn team has looked beyond atrocious on offense all season and the defense made them look unstoppable.

I keep seeing this sentiment expressed, and I don't understand it. The put up like 350 yards of offense on us.

He reacted to the ball hitting him. Mac looked pretty good aside from the 2 INTs, but both of those throws were absolutely atrocious. It honestly reminded me of Matt Ryan. He makes 30 good throws, but the 2 bad ones he makes costs his team the game.

The pick 6 to Najee was so critical. I don’t blame Mac; we shouldn’t have been throwing on 1st and goal from the 2. And he tried to make a play instead of throwing it away but that’s a 14 point swing there. We’re about to be up 38-30 with all the momentum and Auburn on the ropes. Instead...back breaker.

The play call was fine. Najee had the guy beat.
If the Auburn player had better coverage the ball would have hit him in the back and not Najee.
Mac just got pressured and didn't put enough on the throw. One more ounce or two of force, the ball falls harmlessly incomplete

He did nothing that makes me excited for next year and him being our starter.

I think he's done pretty good but he aint Tua. But the next QB(s) probably won't be Tua, and I hope people are prepared for the QB position to come a little bit closer down to earth

I’d say more like Jamies Winston. One drive he’s looking like an All Pro, the next drive he’s Nathan Peterman with the pick sixes.

Mac was 26/39 for 335 yards and 4 TDs in his first road start, at Jordan Hare of all places, against a Top 5 defense in the country and the best one we have faced by far.

The first pick six was bad. The second one was unlucky. He literally hit Najee with it. It was a fluke, and we shouldn’t have been throwing it there in the first place.

I don’t see how anyone could have watched this game and think Mac isn’t up to snuff.

It wasn't just the yardage, its how they got the yardage. There was an AU drive where Nix hit like 3 straight miracle passes to WRs just out-efforting our secondary.

By the way, for those who drool over 247 rankings and believe football games are won and lost off them... Will Hastings was a 2 star and Sal Cannella was a 3 star. And they made key plays against our 4 and 5 star DBs.
