Is it even possible to win at New Mexico? And Locksley took over a dumpster fire at Maryland.

Locksley is tearing it up recruiting. I hope his assistants are good because they will have the talent there.

We better recruit some QB’s. We are thin there.

What does that say about Nick Saban if you think Locksley didn't learn and grow a great deal the years he spent in Alabama?

Seriously think..

Seriously???

This is a joke, right?

Does Derek Dooley's failure at Tennessee reflect on Saban?

Yeah. Seriously think.

Your question about NM was pretty well answered by the next guy.

As far as recruiting at MD, ok, so he has a top 15 class. There's a helluva lot more to being a head coach than recruiting.

Once again, I challenge anyone to provide any evidence whatsoever from Mike Locksley's career that he can be a successful head coach. And no, working for Saban doesn't count, because being an OC and a head coach aren't the same type of jobs. At all.

Apparently Saban had some effect because Derek Dooley had no head coaching experience and he won 8 games (and the bowl) Lousiana Tech team which hadn't won a bowl game in 30 years.

He even got named the Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association Coach of the Year.

So yeah, Saban definitely did affect Dooley... now maybe the rocky top job was too big or Dooley needed to learn more but Saban had a positive effect.

Locksley on the other hand has experience and has been learning from the master for years.

You should have just stop and thought instead of rashly posting a bad example.

Next time, think.

I have to say an 8 win season in the WAC and a 17-10 win over NIU as your biggest accomplishment is a little funny. That doesn't prove he didn't grow and learn a lot from Saban it just made me laugh. That 2008 La Tech season is hilarious.

Their greatest coach, the one who took them to 5 bowls (which is about 40% of their bowl appearances in 128 years of football) averaged 5.9 wins per season. Locksley did a shitty job there, but it really is a garbage program. One of the least successful in the history of DI.

New Mexico Football Record by Year and Coaching History

Pretty "interesting" coaching history (Davies, Locks, Franchione, Joe Lee Dunn, Rocky Long, Marv Levy, Dudley DeGroot). Lot more 7 win or better seasons across those coaches and their history than I expected. Young Marv Levy went back to back 7-3 seasons, prepared him for those Bills runs .

Sure, but a top 15 class goes further in the B1G than it does in the SEC. If he pulls in that kind of talent on an annual basis he will win enough games to keep a fanbase like Maryland's happy.

Oh I agree. I was just responding to the poster asking if it was even possible to win there

lost a lot of respect for Galu as he dissed NS about not letting him compete. He was a true freshman. Did they expect him to be tabbed the backup to his brother from day one. Good luck to him but not sure dad and NS will be sending each other Christmas cards.

Yeah I saw the article. Blamed Covid for him not being able to compete. Lia wasn’t beating out Mac. Young probably won’t either. So not a big deal just wants to play ASAP.

Without a Spring Camp, I think it's less likely for Young to beat out Mac in Fall Camp, but I think it could happen at some point during the season.

Depends how good he really is. He plays the best competition in the land, guess we see how that translates.
