Revenue share is capped at 20m and the House Settlement was supposed to make sure that NIL deals are legitimate fair market value business deals with third parties by running everything through a clearinghouse

I get that in the early days schools and collectives were doing whatever they want with no rules but now I don’t think any athletic department can spend more than 20M?
This is a fallacy. It’s still pay for play. TT and two other schools refused to sign off on these rules. The number comes directly from LSu sports radio. They were at 45 mil prior to the former NFl players attempting to get on roster. You have to assume LSU is paying those guys even though they have not made the roster yet because there’s no way you ask players to leave the NfL and then not compensate them.

I have as much guarantee that Alabama does not spend that kind of money as you do that they are spending that much on a roster. Even people in the know admit Alabamas not spending that kind of money. Let’s face it, anyone abiding by the rules today is just handicapping themselves. Nobody is enforcing shite. The only unbreakable rule seems to be no pros.
The B1G review crew obviously and blatantly cheated last night to change the outcome of a game for one of their darling programs. Tampering is laughed at, NIL and eligibility limits are open to interpretation, and if something doesn’t go your way, just find a local homer judge to rule in your favor and you are good to go. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Texas got all the calls in Austin next week from an SEC officiating crew just because it makes good business sense for the league. Anarchy is the name of the game now and until a governing body with enforcement powers and teeth is established, if you aren’t looking out for your own interests with an “anything goes” approach, you’re playing at a disadvantage.

You bring up several good points.
Do think Lane is going to make us Bama fans think long and hard about that supposed booster that had major beef with him and potentially blocked him being HC here when Saban stepped down. (For the record I thought he was the obvious choice for HC and was expecting his name to be called out).
Don't think Lane is unbeatable and he will lose games and make mistakes. But his demeanor towards running the football program is exactly what you need in today's game. Everyone spending money on players. How you navigate the portal and NIL is now key. You go buy depth (at a cost).
Yesterday listening to him made me realize he's got a little Saban in him. As the season goes on he is going to get a lot of stuff cleaned up and have them rolling.
Once you execute and win games it becomes a snowball effect and machine keeps humming.
I think reality will set in by end of season for all of us as to who has emerged as contenders and elite programs for this season and probably next season.

You guys know in three or four weeks that $50 million roster will be questioned every hour by this board after Lane pulls a Lane and shits the bed with it. 
Everyone knew Clemson was almost guaranteed to take a step back this year which says a lot considering they lost six games last season and was nearly upset by Troy at home. I don't think too many people would be surprised today if LSU was coming off the Jayden Daniels Heisman season rather than one year removed from a masterclass in offensive ineptitude.
But until further notice, Lane is still a guy that lost to the worst team in the league with Jaxon Dart under center. Still the guy that lost to Brian Harsin and was embarrassed by Dave Aranda with Matt Corral. Yes, he has "better players" now but he's always had better players than the teams that have embarrassed him. Still the guy that was blown out by a mediocre Texas Tech.

Look, we whiffed on Kiffin when I think it was obvious that he was the biggest name, best HC available, and we passed on him for some petty drama.
Who knows what the future holds, but it's pretty telling that his first game at LSU was more impressive than any game we've seen from a DeBoer team in 3 seasons.
His offense and his QB look like they're already in a better spot than anything DeBoer has put on the field to date. Maybe we should take a page from the WINNERS of late, and be getting our QBs out of the portal. Idk why KDB is so opposed to that for a guy who's obsessed with QBs.
All i know is that now more than ever in cfb, fortune favors the bold, and Kiffin is about as bold as it gets

LSU paid 4 million for Jordan Seaton..... I'd wager Alabama's highest paid player MIGHT be making half of that. A morally corrupt program in a morally corrupt state is spending alot more on their football program than Alabama is.

You are talking out of your arse. We paid 7 figures for that DT from USC. We're paying Austin Mack and Keelon both 7 figures. Idk how much exactly, but this idea that LSU is just spending way more than us is sour grapes and pure cope.

Here's a thought: maybe other teams are allocating their money better, and not paying a backup QB 7 figures. Maybe they're not paying a WR with drop issues $2-$4m and naming him captain.
We're over here playing nice guy Mickey Mouse ball, where everyone is buddies with the HC, and Cig is yelling at injured players to get the frick off the field.
Do you think Kiffin or Cignetti would've allowed Mbakwe to punk them the way he did our coaching staff? Enough said.
Look, I still think DeBoer is a good coach, but if Kiffin wins the SEC this season, yeah it might be obvious that we don't have the best HC in the conference.

It's all about $ allocation. All of the top programs are spending roughly the same. Maybe some like Texas are spending $5m-$10m more but obviously that isn't making the difference.

Still, it seems like all of the contenders in cfb are right in that $30m-$40 range this season, including us.
Maybe LSU is an exception in their spending this year, but Indiana won it all last year without outspending everyone so it can obviously be done.

Indiana has a helluva lot more money than you realize. Everyone thinks that just because they are perennial losers they don’t have money, but nothing could be further from the truth. They have deep enough pockets to go toe to toe with Michigan and Ohio State if they so choose. They didn’t have to have a GoFundMe account to make Cig the highest paid coach in college football with an escalator clause to keep him #1, they just stroked a check.
And yes, LSU has gone all in on the 2026 football team and are paying well north of $40 million and will go higher if they feel they have to. They have decided you can and they will buy a nattie. It’s that simple. And I noticed something different last night with Lane: he had a couple of opportunities to go for it on 4th down that analytics would have supported but he chose not to. Why? He did it when it was utterly stupid at Ole Miss. i think it’s because he doesn’t feel the need to now. He doesn’t feel the pressure of having to score 40 points just to have a decent chance of winning the game. He knows his defense is as stifling as his offense is high octane so it’s ok to punt. He’ll have the ball back in 3 or 4 plays. That is a dangerous team if Lane isn’t going to shoot himself in the foot a couple of times a year.
