Just let Hurts play ball. He throws it a little late, and had some overthrows today, but let him play. I hate seeing the bubble screens all game. The WRs are too good for this. Run and do play actions like last year. Just throw it past the line of scrimmage.

re: Lane Kiffin PlaycallingPosted on 9/17/16 at 7:10 pm to KareemAbdul Yall are crazy. The team was running the ball down their throat... Kiff refused to run the ball. The OL was getting a huge push the entire game. For a first time start on the road in SEC country Hurts played balls out. Stewart getting hurt early was HUGE. Best believe having him and Ridley on opposite sides was a big part of the game plan. Dieter sucks ! No way he is better than Foster. Dieter has bricks for hands, and he can. not. block. Kiffin fell into the nussmeir (nussy) syndrome where he wasn't watching the game he was too lost in his playbook to see what was working. PENALTIES !! Who is going to have success when its 2nd and 15-20 every other possession ? Penalties KILLING this team. No discipline. Look at that convoy of Bama players celebrating before Allen could score, and a defender damn near tracks Allen down through 5-6 defenders ?? Sloppy. Sloppy everywhere. Kiffin has been amazing, but this was the worst called game since the Nussy era. Scarbrough needs to be moved to HBack like last week ! Immediately ! Offense can and will run the ball if Kiff will let them. That will open up the play action, and the passes down field

Thank you...!I Agree on all thee above

I still say it starts with Cristobal

Cristobal is in charge of tackles and tight ends...Key is the designated OL coach...the tackles didn't play stellar today, but they've looked better than the inside linemen this season...

Need to run the ball on 1st down more. We do that and we will be fine, too many second and longs requiring a passing situation on 2nd and 3rd

We can learn a lot from this game, we had no season ending injuries. We need to recoup and move forward with two easier games and be ready to ball. We literally now know what rock bottom is, this team know. I can't tell you how much this struggle will help these guys.

Don't forget Cam getting multiple false starts every game this year. Penalties hurt us bad early in this game on offense. Running game looks solid, Kiffin is calling way too many pass plays and putting too much ressure on Hurts.

Kiffin sometimes calls some head scratchers (DIE, JET SWEEPS, DIE!!!)...but we don't win back to back SEC crowns or the CFP last year without him...

I dont keep up with this like some...I guess I assumed Cristobal was the OL coach.

I think I was spoiled with Pendry's OL. I miss lining up and to quote Saban, "Making their arse quit."

Don't know if our line or our RBs have developed to that point yet...although Harris looks like the man. And with Hurts run-pass option, especially really opened up our run game in the second half. Ole Miss couldn't stop us straight up the gut when we ran the clock out...Couldn't afford to sell out in case Hurts would take off outside...

This was the highlight of the game for me...seriously. I think I shed a tear as we lined up and ran between the tackles and dared them to stop us.

I love having a QB that is a threat to run...I just wish we ran him less. I would much rather see our RBs taking that punishment than our QB.

The most impressed I was with Hurts was how he came back after taking the shot to the head on his fumble. The guy has some toughness. However. a banged up QB is much worse than a banged up RB. Hope he takes less punishment in future games.

To emphasize how slow and long developing the shotgun snap is on short yardage situations when the defense is trying to get penetration.

I'll tell you this...I'm pretty damn happy with the offense so far. From many comments in this thread, seems that a lot of people forget that we have a lot of new parts on offense...including the OL. We had a QB that got over 100 yards rushing, and the guy earlier who said it was mostly from scrambling obviously didn't even watch the game, because the bulk of Hurts' yards came in designed runs. What was wrong with Kiffin's play calling on the play on the first drive when we overthrew a wide open TE in the end zone? Or when Dieter had another drop? Was Kiffin's play calling at fault on all those 1st and 15 and 1st and 20 situations our OL put us in? I think we just had a true freshman QB go into a hostile road environment and play pretty damn well. We had over 300 yards and two 100 yard runners.

Does our offense have areas that need to improve? Sure. Did we do pretty well today given all the circumstances? Hell yes.

Well, to be fair.

Mac left on his own to pursue a head coaching job.

Saban brought in Lane before the bowl game as Nuss was being forced out.

Kiffen has been a great OC. But also, Saban seems to be less pleased with him this year. I know Saban can always give his coaches an earful but when he told the media "that was an arse chewing" it did not sound as a vote of confidence for lane.

So of the 3 you list.

1 left on his own.
1 was forced out.
1 (Kiffen) could go either way at this point honestly.
