Can we run effectively on Auburn? The right side of our line will have their hands full. Hurts is going to have to loosen Auburn's front up with short passes. Early and often.

The most dangerous weapon we will have in our run game vs au will be Jalen Hurts. I was talking to an auburn buddy of mine, one of the level-headed few among them, a guy I grew up playing all sports with, and he's super, super, SUPER concerned about Hurts and the QB draw. Why? Because he says au's DEs basically create pressure in the pass game almost exclusively with the outside speed rush, and that if they do that vs Bama, Hurts will have running lanes straight ahead for days and days. Interesting stuff.

Seriously, auburn has several weaknesses.

Hurts is going to have to make plays with his legs and be a squirrely as possible.

I agree, but I see no reason why Bama can't throw the football against auburn.

auburn will set out to stop the traditional run game. They will or they won't. Let's say they stop it well enough to motivate us to pass. Fine.

From passing formations, we still have the RB run game, the QB run game, and the Pass game. I will exclude the RB run game from passing formations for this next part.

When we drop back to pass, au can rush the passer aggressively. If that's their plan, Hurts will have to hurt them with his feet often. However, if they're smart, they'll try to collapse the box, keep Hurts in the pocket, and force him to throw, and there's where we can do what few other teams can. If you take away our run game and say, "beat us with the pass," we can and will. Again, I think we are a matchup nightmare for au on both sides of the ball.

auburn is 2-2 versus teams on their schedule who are worth a damn. They lost to Clemson and LSU, and beat Georgia and MissSt. Those are the only teams on their schedule with an offense and defense both in the top 60. After that, every team au has played has had either an offense or defense (usually defense) outside the top 100.

sure, auburn looked good against a georgia team that brought their D game to the stadium. But I know enough football to know that Bama can create problems for au that few other teams can. We're a matchup nightmare for them.

Bama by 2+ TDs.

Absolutely no chance we win by 2+TDs.

That certainly wasn't the case last year against elite defenses and it hasn't been the case this year against defenses with any pulse. I would love for him to go off on the ground but history says it won't happen. If they go all in on stopping him from running and I think they will then I hope he can take advantage of Ridley and company with the one on ones. He looked great on the last drive against State but prior to that he was completing less than 50% of his passes and not looking very good at all.

Last year he ran for 114 yards vs LSU, 63 vs Clemson and 50 vs Washington. That's not bad by any stretch.

You assume auburn would bring it's A game if we played a thousand times. A can assure you, they wouldn't, and neither would we.

auburn has to bring it's A game to compete with us. If they lay an egg or anything less than their B+ game, we can blow them out.

It baffles me how fans think that a team just shows up and is "itself" every week. Sometimes you play well, sometimes you don't, and sometimes it falls somewhere in between - and this is true for every team.

I'm of the opinion that due to folks giving them rat poison, us being slighted by many, us finally getting battle tested recently, us getting some OLBs back for the game, and numerous Xs and Os reasons I've laid out here and in other threads, Bama's chances for success are high. Really High.

This is factually incorrect solely on the basis of statistics. There's a slight chance that everything and anything could happen.

Any word on how bad this break is? Is he definitely out for Auburn?

We need to run hurts out of 5 wr sets. Run then ask deep, see how the dline and linebackers react, then let taken make a guy miss

Nah, it's one of those 48-hour foot fractures.

My concern is Holland abusing our right side of the OL. How can we counter act that?

Don't get in 3rd and long, but got to give Womack help because he just can't handle elite talent.

Many ways:

1) Chip him with a TE.

2) Keep a RB in to help.

3) Screen/draw him to death until he's demotivated to get upfield so quickly.

4) Have our elite running QB take off when there's ptessure.

I'm positive Daboll will have a great plan drawn up.
