I mean, can't say I blame Auburn here if they tell him to eat a bag of red dog dicks.

Amarillo, you will be front page news on the AU rant page, lol...they have went from the high of the Tide hired husky harsin, therefore the team and recruiting was done, to self loathing cause the Tide is recruiting at Saban levels and they are only pulling in low 4*/3* recruits...it's a another level of delusional reading on their forum??
I revisited a few "he can't recruit" Facebook posts from last January with the current recruiting rankings and of course, they're moving the goal posts now.
"Let's see if he can win with these players."
"He won't maintain this kind of success recruiting."
And my personal favorite:
"Anyone can recruit with Bama's check book."
Even after all the shite they said about Saban backfired, they still would rather look like ignorant fricks than admit we hired a good coach.

Well, it's far from free market capitalism, but Juju is free to ask for whatever he wants.
That doesn't mean people aren't going to laugh at his ridiculous demands. The kid reclassified to be a 2025 recruit to get a jump on the money, and it turns out that he is FAR from being an elite QB.

He’s going to get paid by somebody. If this is really the extent of his ask it’s not out of the realm of expectation.
Jaden Rashada was the number 10 qb and had an offer from Florida for 15 million. Miami was offering him something pretty significant as well. You could buy all of Auburn and Carrollton for 15 mil.

My personal favorites now from AU:
" all their recruits are from out west, he still can't recruit the south" "all their recruits are way over rated, AU only went after 2 recruits committed to Bama" "when Bama goes 9-3 this year, all their recruits will flip to other teams"...serious coping happening on that board.

Tuition, campus housing, and books should be provided for all scholarship athletes. Any NIL and/or seed money or gifts should be treated as taxable income. They can either be considered employees or independent contractors. These athletes should be treated the same as any working individual earning a paycheck. That means filing tax forms, paying estimated taxes, and possibly going through audits. This will bring the chaos of pay for play into some type of control.

If it was free market capitalism hardly any of these players would be making squadoosh. There is absolutely no market for them. Outside of college football message board travellers like us, no one knows any of these players; even the blue chippers are unknown. The "market" for them has been created by race-baiting do-gooders and judicial fiat.
Posted on 7/12/24 at 10:57 am to SoFla Tideroller
That doesn’t seem to be true. “No market for them”…then why are they getting paid? Their ability to make the university money, advertise, and make old rich alumni happy is a market. They capitalizing on it

They are taxed on NiL. The things you’re asking for already exist.
Posted on 7/12/24 at 11:02 am to Sandkhan
Unless they’re given cash under the table, that cash isn’t taxed.
Posted on 7/12/24 at 11:08 am to hwyman108
Well that’s not really NiL and isn’t any different than what college football has been for the last 60 years or so.
Posted on 7/12/24 at 12:14 pm to Sandkhan
It’s the best form of payment and the only form of payment I’d want as a player.
I’d use the nil shite as a front, but the real money I’d want cash.

It already is.
I doubt Juju realizes that his (father's) demands will give him a tax liability of likely $400-$500k, and that's before he ever sees a dime of his post-enrollment NIL package.

Players need to be employees so they can be held to contracts.
Yes. I hate it. The profit sharing is worth a try, but if that doesn’t stop the law suits, then contracts are the only answer- and under contract, players will have restrictions.

I can see where players will eventually be employees and that opens different additional cans of worms:
Workers compensation coverage and settlements. This could be literally millions of dollars involved.
Pensions? I wouldn't be surprised if eventually pensions become an issue for each school. There could and most likely would be gigantic disparities in terms of how much each school would offer.
Health/Dental/Orthodontics insurance for the players and their kids/wives/baby mama's. Maybe even health insurance for life? Again, gigantic $$$$ for the schools if lifetime coverage.
It may not come to this but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Nobody cares but 100% against profit sharing. Contracts will fix the current problem we have with the transfer portal.
