These stats are without context.

They would be horrible numbers....if he was being asked to throw for 400 yards and 4 TD's a game.

BUT HE ISN'T BEING ASKED TO DO THAT.

He does what he's being asked to do. He doesn't turn the ball over and he makes plays with his feet when players aren't wide open.

They do not want him forcing the ball into situations and he doesn't do that. Which is why he has 0 interceptions in those stats.

I'm a fan of pro-style passing offenses, and would much rather see that type of offense. BUT THAT'S NOT WHO WE ARE. So stop blaming Jalen for it. I dislike our offense and have for years - but it's not Jalen's fault.

We will run the same gameplan tonight that we ran against Clemson, and what we should have stuck to against Auburn. We will run the ball and Jalen is going to help keep Georgia from focusing in on the RB's with his feet/read options and we will win doing it.

Fans around here need to learn how to support what we have rather than constantly looking to piss on everything because it's not what you want. Shameful.

We all know we can’t outscore anyone. That’s my only point. With Jalen, we can’t even allow a normal offensive game. Once Ga reaches 21, with every point over, our odds of winning drop about 10%.

We don’t have a McCarron or a Coker even to match scores with anyone.

We match up well with ga. This is our best scenario playing out.

Need Jalen to set it up tonight. I’m not a fan of asking the defense to pitch another perfect game. We have too much talent on offense to be this sluggish.

add in the number of times he checked to a successful play, pointed out the blitzing defender so it could be picked up and that resulted in a successful play.

That wouldn't take much time. I'm not one of the die hard Jalen bashers, but he is horrendous at the pre-snap read part of the game. Every blitz he sees seems like the first blitz he sees.

Those stats are terrible by any metric you want to use. In context, Jalen is being asked to throw somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-25 passes a game. He’s not being asked to win it with his arm. If he completes 12-15 of them it should amount to at least 150 yards and keep the running lanes open for our backs.
I’m not denying the intangibles that Jalen brings to the table for they count for a lot. But are they enough to overcome his large passing deficit? That’s a matter of opinion. I support the kid and I hope he wins the game for us. But I also feel like we are asking a lot of our defense and frustrating the whole team when we continue to struggle and misfire on offense due to shaky QB play combined with questionable play calling.
You pointed to those stats being misleading in the last Clemson game due to being on a short field most of the time. That’s true, we had a short field much of the night.

But here’s a stat that’s not misleading in light of a short field. The offense started 7 drives beyond our own 40 yard line. That’s a pretty short field. We managed to score points on 3 of those drives and one of those 3 started at the Clemson 27 thanks to Payne’s INT. So despite starting in great field position, we scored all of 17 points on our 7 best opportunities. The other 4 were 3 punts and a missed FG. And on the successful FG we had 1st and goal from the 3.
I repeat, we are asking a helluva lot from our defense.

Wow. That is disconcerting

I think most of us are just in a wait and see mode with jalen tonight. I would be content if he continues his stat line, hopefully with 0 turnovers. Will be happy if he connects on a few deeper passes.

We are who we are, so let's lineup and do this thing .

I just want to win and I understand that no amount of squealing about the offense or personnel is going to change how we approach the game. Hopefully our plan works. If not, that will suck and we'll need to make changes. If it does work but there is a better path next year, frick yea let's do it.

To make it even more disconcerting, the 3 scoring drives started at our own 47 (FG), the Clemson 46 (TD) and the Clemson 27 (TD). Our longest drive of the night was 47 yards to the Clemson 3 and netted a FG.

We had 12 possessions in the Sugar Bowl. 7 were outside of our 40, one was the fumble to open the 2nd half, and one ended the game. We had as many 3 and outs as we did scoring drives. It’s not a pretty picture.

We weren't great on offense against Clemson, but I think you can split the offensive production up into Close Game/3 Score Game and it shows a bit of a split

1st Qtr to Going up 24-6 (5:27 left 3rd) (2.5 qtrs)
8 Drives
2 3 and outs
1 turnover
5 drives of 7 or more plays (63%)
209 yards
4.18 YPP

Drives after going up 24-6 (1.5 qtrs)
4 Drives
1 3 and out
0 turnovers
0 drives of 7 or more plays (0%)
51 yards
2.83 YPP

Just an FYI, the 4.18 YPP would have been about middle of the pack for a team against Clemson.

Louisville - 6.28
NC State - 5.85
Syracuse - 5.30
Wake Forest - 5.17
Virginia Tech - 4.68
Alabama - 4.18
Georgia Tech - 4.11
Florida State - 4.09
South Carolina - 3.83
Miami - 3.63
Boston College - 3.61
Auburn - 1.77

Our offense wasn't great but it was doing a decent job (and would have been doing a good job if Jalen had hit the 2 open throws) before the defense blew it open.

I’ll take the natty tonight playing the same game we’ve used to get this far. But we’re playing with fire and for no reason. We have better weapons than this to be so ineffective. We are asking our defense to play a perfect game every time out. If they have an off day, we don’t dare look at the current offense and say it’s on you today. And there’s no reason for it. We have the personnel to be explosive. Kiffin showed that. So why do we continue to handicap ourselves this way?
