I was gonna say don’t forget Hudson.
DT was a freak. Unstoppable in Tecmo.

It's very difficult to quantify considering how many great players have played at Alabama in the many different eras college football has gone through. I will say that he was someone who I didn't even have on my radar even after he committed to us in 2008. Scout had him listed as a 3-star running back and I saw him as just an afterthought because my money was on Ivan Matchett being the RB jewel of that legendary recruiting class. Matchett caught the injury bug and never recovered from it.

Devante Smith and Barrett Jones are probably the 2 most decorated players in Bama history.

Jones surprised me not working out in the pros.

Derrick Henry and Julio Jones are sure fire NFL Hall of Famers.

Derrick Thomas and John Hannah are up there. Obviously Don Hutson.

Even a top 10 is tough to do.

Ingram probably isn't even top 10 all-time, but he'll always have a special place as our first Heisman winner...and I'll never forget that South Carolina game when the offense was doing NOTHING. He put the team on his back that night and it probably won him the Heisman.

Wish he would take over for McElroy on JOX. Greg being on a Birmingham based Auburn/Bama daily radio show is baffling at this point.

Derrick Henry is the GOAT. He was unstoppable at Bama.

Guess we have all forgotten Joe Namath, Kenny Stabler, Ozzie Newsome, Dwight Stephenson and many many more.

If we're judging Gumpness, Jesse Williams is no. 1. Man is in Australia repping the Tide daily. No one knows what any of the stuff he wears or puts on his truck means, but he does it.

If we are talking all time, you probably have to go

1. Hannah
2. Derrick Thomas
3. Don Hudson
4. Derrick Henry

And then it gets real hard to order the rest. Namath, Tua, Ingram, Stabler, Ozzie Newsom, Dwight Stevenson, Bryce, Devonte, Leroy Jordan.

Honorable mention: Julio, Bart Starr, Mac Jones, Chris Samuel , Shaun Alexander, Amari Cooper, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Rolando, Demicko...

If we are talking about college only....

Smitty can't be defeated.

I look at the whole career. Hannah was on the all time NFL TEAM for a quarter century and is still considered one of the top 2 or three linemen even to play.

Hudson change the game as far as reviewers go.

Derrick Thomas was the best sack specialist I've ever seen on any level. RIP

Henry is just another level of size strength and athleticism and a future NFL Hall of Famer

Love Mark and his attitude while he was here…one of the foundational pieces that put us on a historical run.

anytime i see a "goat" list for bama players, i always hearken back to the hero's of my youth. guys like johnny musso, wilbur jackson, ozzie newsome, jeff rutledge, johnny davis, tommy wilcox, jim bob harris and the all time great derrick thomas. but then how do you leave out guys like bobby humphrey, siran stacy, david palmer, al bell, craig richardson, shaun alexander, demeco ryans and i havent even gotten to the saban era.

so... my mount rushmore has 50 or more players on it... as alabama fans, we've been blessed

I did not realize how old most of the posters on this board were until I read this thread.

Throw John Hannah into the conversation. Not only is he likely Alabama's greatest all time lineman, he may be the greatest lineman in NFL history.

Then there's Cornelius Bennett.

You could probably name a few who I would consider before Ingram. And I love Ingram.
