Boz is right , a team can see who is more skilled and still support the guy who had started. Jalen is limited in some ways...But his leadership , coachability and athleticism along with experience had equity in the locker room. Tua got his opportunity and came thru..Which was no doubt due to preparing and continuing to learn and improve throughout the year.

Yeah so the bottom line is that either Saban's ego or Saban's loyalty to the starters cost us an undefeated season and a terrific OC who was itching all season to call plays for Tua, and only got to do it for a half in the most absurd scenario possible.

If this article is true it only makes Daboll look that much better. I just hope we can get an OC that's really adept at running a great downfield passing offense

With that said, I think this whole thing about there being an ongoing QB battle, and we're gonna rotate QBs and all of that nonsense is a total distraction. Every coach and every player needs to know right now that Tua is the unquestioned starter, he's the man, he's gonna get the vast majority of the reps, we're gonna start tailoring the offense for him starting today, we're gonna destroy the record books next season and get our first Heisman QB.

If Saban keeps putting on that there's a QB competition into the fall, he will have even further bungled this entire situation

I have a big problem with the "us" part of your statement. You, I, and everyone else on here are fans of an entertainment product. We get to use the plural inclusive we/us only in a way to claim our team. We IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM are actually part of the team. You never in any way contributed to our team's success and cannot state that you were "cost " something. This is nothing but self-entitled garbage and is a poison to the Bama fanbase.

We might even sign a few more blue chip offensive blue chip players if we'd do that.

Honestly, I wish Hurts would transfer so this would be totally over and done but I know that's not going to happen. Saban is probably advising him to hang tight.

We have way too much skill talent to throw for 120 yards a game.

I will riot if Saban trots Hurts out next season as the starter. It would waste the most talented WR crew (Ruggs III, Smith, Jeudy) that we’ve ever had. Jalen can’t throw a football, it’s sad this convo is still happening. I almost wish he’d transfer so we don’t have to debate it. It was absolute misery seeing Jalen as the QB in big games at the end of the season. Good D’s handcuffed him so bad.

All that, plus it's not like our defense was healthy during the Iron Bowl. We had some guys out there coming back from injuries, so to assume we'd have beaten UGA in early December just because we beat them last week is ridiculous.

Furthermore...

The bottom line is that this dynasty that we are all enjoying is 100% due to Saban (and to Mal Moore). Any notion that without Saban or a portion of him, his ego, or whatever, cost the team anything is nonsensical and downright insulting. Our success, all of it, is due to him. You need to get your shite straight.

Personally, I think you should forfiet you Bama fandom and go cheer for another team. Or maybe go coach a team since you know so well. Gimme a break.

Calvin Ridley's body language told you all you need to know about how He felt about #2's passing skills.

Prevatt, we all know how important Saban is. All this is because of him. But, if he makes a mistake you can say he made a mistake. Hes the Greatest ever, but not perfect

Man, you aren't gonna ever make some people see that.

I can't stand when people use 'we' talking about a sports team.

Saban is the GOAT as a head football coach.

If he would just stay away from the offense, he would be even better.

And it's sad anyone would want ANY kid to transfer, especially if they aren't a locker room problem or trouble maker off the field.

Of course the man's not perfect. But to make the statement that "Saban cost US something" is more than I can take. The man certainly makes mistakes, sure, but that level of entitlement should be stamped out of our fanbase. It's sickening.

With a defense and punter as good as ours, it makes great sense to structure an offense so as to limit turnovers. And by many accounts, Tua was a pick six machine in practice deep into the season. He did it (throw picks) in games and so it's quite logical.

Would I like to have seen him against auburn? Sure, but it's based on hindsight. And hindsight doesn't give a fan the right to say that that Saban "cost" us something.

Put that loss in Saban's lap, definitely. But if you do that, you have to put every damn win in the same spot - Saban's lap.

Rather than saying "Saban cost us an undefeated season," it should read "Saban got us 13 wins and a championship.

I have no problem with the we/us thing generally. But when you insinuate that you are owed something by the team you cheer for, then you've crossed a line.

That's fine if you are ok with people saying we or us, I'm not treating it as a moral failing, but I definitely judge those that do, especially in regards to pro teams.

To your bigger point, I strongly agree.

Agreed. Unfortunately, to the detriment of the team's cohesiveness and identity, I think Saban is pulling out this ruse of a QB competition to keep Jalen on the roster.
