Suttles said Daboll was frustrated here because he wanted to Insert Tua much sooner in the season.
Very interesting.
Very interesting.

Sabah stubborn as hell. I couldn't believe at the post game press conference he actually said the game plan was to run the ball with Jalen...

That's nothing new. Crimsonboz already said that.

Saban is a great coach but he is not infallible. It's clear that at halftime of the national championship game he saw the light and started playing his talented freshmen athletes. What that means going forward, however, is yet to be determined.

It means nothing lol. Also people act as if all of the freshman weren't already playing. The only two that were a surprise were Tua and Harris.

I figured it. I know Saban is a great coach and a smart man, but he may be as conservative about the offense as Gene Stallings was. Personally, I think he's conservative to a fault. Yes, he is among the best ever in college football, but I think our team could be even better. More to the point, I think our team could have been better this year had he changed quarterbacks. I think we'd have won the Auburn game with Tagovailoa.
The scary part is that it's still no certainty that he won't play Hurts fist team next year, though if that happens, Tua will most surely transfer.

I can understand that... that’s why I don’t get worried when DC or OC’s leave.. its Sabans team.. the DC and OC will have to adjust to Saban. We will see much of the same on both sides, no matter who is hired. Maybe a wrinkle here and there like bubble screens.. but expect the same as the last 10 years. Saban can be hard headed and stubborn on plays and the right players.. but he has won 6 titles.. so I will take that over anything else. Make no mistake it was Saban using Bo in the red zone.. not Dabol. Once Saban starts losing confidence that the OC isn’t running what he wants.. he lets it known what to run. That’s what I loved about Kiffen in the Auburn game.. Saban actually handed the reins to him. I was shocked.. but then Saban grabbed back control next season when kiffen started getting fancy and snapping balls off Stewart’s leg on the goal line

Boz has said that the last few days. For most of the season Boz was solid in Hurts corner and said it was Jalen's team, there would be no changes till next year or unless Hurts was injured, the issues were with the line and the receivers. Even when it was noted that the receivers were obviously frustrated Boz laughed it off and said everything was honky dory and the team (coaches are certianly part of the team) supported Jalen etc etc etc.
Boz gets some info, but he was obviously wrong about Jalen Hurts for most of the year.

We can quibble all day about who should play, who shouldn't play but this is Saban's team and the results speak for themselves. We have great players and a great staff and culture...And that's due to having a leader who can and will adapt when necessary. I think that's what matters in the long run.

Who didn't besides Saban?

Nah...we still lose. AU was rolling and with it being a home game for them too. We lose that no matter which QB started

In Saban's defense, it was being reported even in November that Tua, while obviously the best passer, had a nasty habit of throwing pick 6s in practices. Just because he was ready in January doesn't mean he was ready in November. You won't play for Saban if you turn the ball over.

defeatist attitude
edit: and conjecture too
You will note that earlier I said "I think" we'd have beaten Auburn.
Having an opinion is one thing. Making an absolute statement is another thing entirely. In most cases and absolutely in this case, it's conjecture.

Except for the fact that Jalen is the one who played all year except the final half.

Tua proved himself and should start...But he has to continue to work and improve. Our success has been sustainable because we have day in day out competition on our roster, and because of that our reserves are able to step up when needed. U always prepare as if u are a starter and that's a testament to the players as well as the staff.

I never read that anywhere but on this board. I said then it was internet bullshite from a few posters trying to justify why Saban was not playing the better qb.
Jalen Hurts first half vs UGA
No point, no offense, no chance
Tua Tagovailoa 2nd half
26 points, effective and balanced offense, won the game after coming from behind 13-0

It's exactly what I thought our game plan would be. And it was working until we once again tried to turn Jalen into a pocket passer.
We've seen Auburn have success with it, and obviously that is what Saban wanted to tap into based on how hard it is to defend.
But it was clear by halftime a changed needed to happen and it was no surprise then that it did happen.

Reading comprehension is fundamental.
If Daboll disagreed with Saban during the season, and thought Tua should have been playing earlier, then not all the team supported Jalen Hurts.
hell, I knew that anyway. It was clear that at least some of the receivers didn't , but Boz assured me they did support Hurts.

Why downvote me.... go back and read the other thread... and if Tua had played prior to Auburn.. we drop a game or two...
