Yeah the ND defense got better in the 2nd half of the season, they played Pitt, Boston College, Wake Forest and a USC team with a backup QB making his 1st start.
Bama was playing the likes of LSU, A+M and Georgia.

I feel confident but I think Notre Dame's going to stick around and make it close for a lot longer than we would like. I won't be surprised at all if it's a close game in the fourth quarter and Bama pulls away late.

SEC is 3-3 in bowl games with 3 left to play. Not great by any means but not horrible either.

I think this is more ammo for Saban to use. He's going to make sure the players know that just because they're Bama and play in the SEC that doesn't mean N.D. is gonna lay down and take a beating.

Buck up, son! Who cares what the SEC looks like. We've been blazing through them and the rest of our schedule since 2008. I wouldn't sweat it at all. We got all the depth, experience, and coaching we'll need.
If we lose, it will be because of something unlikely and hard to predict... like, AJ going down or like a bazillion turnovers.
