I'm concerned elite coordinators may not want to work for Saban anymore

I am concerned that elite coordinators may not want to work for Saban anymore. A P5 coordinator can make good money anyplace and you won't have someone breathing down your neck like Saban is known to do and you can work fewer hours. Plus, with the playoff expanding, NIL, and the 1 time immediate transfer rule, college football will likely have more parity than ever.

Other than Pruitt he hasn’t made any elite coordinator hires.

You shouldn't let Alabama Athletics concern you. You should enjoy watching the sports. I think you should step away from Bama sports and the board. enjoy life.

Sark and Kiffin were elite. Yeah he hired them after they were fired from HC jobs but they were elite OCs.

My life is great. My life is probably better than yours. But, thanks for the suggestion that doesn't apply to me.

You’re misremembering the perception of them when they were hired.

Maybe Saban don't pursue elite coordinators. He had a few turn him down but we don't know who all he has talked to. Without knowing all the facts, we can only wonder. I can only judge the final product, based on the outcome of what Saban puts his stamp of approval on, and then judge Saban appropriately. To me Saban has pursued several 'tweeners' as OCs. None of the OCs have went on to be highly successful without Bama talent.

I can’t imagine trolling a sub forum of a few thousand Alabama fans on tigerdroppings. But you do you.

Saban hired Jim McElwain from Fresno State. He hired Doug Nussmeier from Washington. They were not considered elite, just dudes that were pretty decent at their job. Alabama won 3 national titles with them.

The fact that Saban 'hopefully' is getting away from that finesse BS and getting back to more of a running game will work in his favor. Teams are not tough or built to handle a running game. With our talent we will chew up people. .....Hate to say it but Smart out 'Sabaned' everyone this year. He kept it simple and let the talent wear out teams. But Smarts OC was the one that deserved that title. He was the brains behind that team and I am glad he is about to be gone from Georgia.

And, something else I think is Schumann, since he works under Kirby, may be willing to stay at UGA for the longterm until the Bama head coach job opens like Kirby did by staying at Bama until UGA opened up.

OCs of the Saban Era:

Major Applewhite
Jim McElwain
Doug Nussmeier
Lane Kiffin
Brian Daboll
Mike Locksley
Steve Sarkisian
Bill O'Brien

DCs of the Saban Era:

Kevin Steele
Kirby Smart
Jeremy Pruitt
Pete Golding

How many of these were considered elite when Saban hired them?

Yeah we should fire Saban because he didn’t hire the guy you wanted for OC so the decline must be real

Pretty embarrassing thread to start tbh

When before coming to Alabama was Kiffin an "elite coordinator"? He had a two year stint sharing the job with Sark at USC, eight years before Bama hired him. That as the only time previous to him coming to Bama that he was an OC.
