My favorite QB of the Saban era. A guy who struggled early on and had to earn the trust and respect of the coaches, players, and fans. And he did. He is about the only quarterback under Saban that got better as the season progressed and when it came post-season time, no one was stopping him. I miss that big SOB.

Also someone that many fans here said would never be able to hit the broadside of a barn, couldn't pass down field, etc..

If you look at his numbers before the Auburn game, then look at his numbers after, it is staggering. He absolutely flipped a switch down the stretch. Coker and Henry in the backfield was about 14 feet and 500 pounds of terror.

I love Jake...But "the only QB under Saban that got better"? Aj progessed very well at end of 2011 and grew throughout 2012.

You didn't until Bama won the NC. Until then the story was he was not good enough to get it done. Bama has wins NC with one QB who was not considered a liability and that was AJ against ND.

IF we had him last year, we repeat as NCs.

Yeah that was basically my point in the OP. But I understand most of you don't read or try to comprehend other peoples posts. You really just want to voice your own opinion.

And you misquoted me. I said ABOUT the only one who progressed. Come on people.

Coker's last 4 games were as good a stretch, all against good/great defenses, as any player in Alabama history.

He was tough.

Freddie Kitchens was similar imo, just on a much worse team.

He was a critical part of our National Championship. We do not win it without him.

Tell you what...why don't you name a QB that DIDN'T progress.

Because not only did McCarron progress, Sims' improvement was beyond what anyone would have imagined.

But yeah, Coker became my favorite QB of the era. Your main point is well taken.

We would have beat the shite out of Clemson last year if we had Coker

if we had Lane calling the plays, we would have repeated as NCs! Jalen still almost won it for us after play calling was responsible for 7 consecutive 3 and outs.

Agreed, Lane calling plays would’ve been a game changer.

Agreed. In hindsight: You just don't change OC's in the middle of the playoffs during a 8day break and expect everything to go smoothly. That is beyond tempting fate and flipping off football Gods. Though I must admit I thought Saban may still pull it off and didn't necessarily disagree with his decision. Kiffin is so easy to dump,on.

Did lane secretly leave during the washington game??? Cause jalen looked like hot, wet garbage.
