The good
1. Tua is amazing
2. WRs are the tits
3. Spreading the ball around
4. DB play has been mostly sufficient
5. Young LBs playing well enough
6. TEs better than advertised in the passing game

The bad:
1. The OL can’t bust a grape in the run game. IMO, they’re too slow
2. While it’s scoring points, I still don’t like Sark’s offensive style
3. Front 7 not getting enough QB pressure
4. Defense is tackling uncharacteristically bad
5. Alphas not stepping up in the front 7
6. Kicking...wtf does Bama do to kickers? A kicker who commits to Bama should immediately lose a star
7. LBs aren’t great in pass coverage
8. RBs are underwhelming
9. While he’s great individually, I still think Tua may not be a great leader
10. Defense needs some scematic updates
11. OL needs a change in recruiting philosophy
12. It seems Bama is more sloppy than usual with unforced errors
13. Return game isn’t producing as expected

Luckily it's mid-September and they still control their destiny with 3 weeks to improve.

I don't think it is either. Feels like a rebuilding year.

Yeah, Bama looks sloppy and bad on defense/offensive line at this point. I’ll be honest: I thought the same things in ‘12 and ‘15. This team has all the ability in the world, it all comes down to leadership and desire to improve. We won’t know the result for quite a while.

Also, I've now watched most of Clemson's first 3 games.

They look just as clunky as we do, just in different areas.

At the moment, our defense is our liability

Defense needs works obviously, but if you think that we can't win it all with the offense that we have, then I don't know what to tell you.

I remember how hopeless I felt after the 2015 Ole Miss game. That was horrible. Granted that defense was absolutely loaded with NFL stars.

Maybe...but Saban likes to say they play to a standard.

I'm not ready to say that yet. We haven't looked great on defense. Hopefully we improve over these next few games. Line has to change dramatically IMO for us to seriously contend. It can be done.

We have one of the best at qb and the best unit at receiver. That's a pretty solid foundation to build on.

They need experience. Let’s see how they look week to week. We shall see. I think we have a damn good team just some young guys.

I thought 2016 and 2018 were GOAT level teams, and was ready to jump off a bridge after 2015 Ole Miss and 2017 Auburn.

So, you just never know.

I think this team has tremendous potential. We’re three weeks in. We thought the same thing after the 2015 Ole Miss game. Looking back now, there are times where I think that could have been the best team under Saban. But you would have never thought that after that early September game.

We have plenty of games ahead.

If you think this is a rebuilding year, wait until next year.

I thought we were working on peaking at the end of the season, like Clemson?

This.

They're in a dogfight going into the half with a Syracuse team that Maryland gutted like a fish last week.

Nobody looks to have it all together yet, which is pretty normal for this time of year.

And nobody is saying they're meeting that standard either - but the question was can this team win a championship. Right now just the offense alone puts them on a very short list of contenders.

And you would have to think that it will improve once Brown comes back. Owens needs more experience at center, too.
