My last president was friends with Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn, two domestic terrorists who, to this day, sincerely believe that blowing up buildings and killing people was not enough, whose spiritual leader was racist Jeremiah Wright, and who cheered on the various ignorant and destructive "demonstrations". So... I'm feeling a lot better about things right now.

So to be clear, you're perfectly fine with Jalen drawing attention to himself and making entitled comments such as "I've built a brand for myself"? Both things that we know for a fact, based on comments made by Saban before, that CNS hates?
Saban said very recently that both guys didn't need to bring attention to themselves. What does Jalen do the first chance he gets? Draws attention.
Saban has always preached that you have to put the team first. No player "builds a brand" at Alabama, and saying you feel you have is going against the program's culture. No player is bigger than the script A and no player if bigger than CNS.
How do you see no problem with this? Hell, most of us who are upset aren't even the ones who shite on Jalen at every available opportunity. This has turned people against him, let's not pretend it's just making his usual "haters" come out in full force.

that might just be the best suggestion so far. danielsons analysis of the situation and jalens abilities, were spot-on.
you know, that danielson interview may very well have been the catalyst for yesterdays actions from both jalen and his mom. both refusing to accept his views.

I actually think Jalen's dad's comments were fair. He said Jalen's play left the door open for Tua but everyone seems to gloss over that. I also believe Jalen's father wants him to transfer which Jalen will do. Jalen is only back because he's close to graduating.

JMO but #2 should simply step away for this fall and graduate in Dec then move on with two full years to play. I would think Nick and the U of A would allow him to stay on scholly until he is done in Dec.

To be clear, I'm perfectly fine with Jalen Hurts doing whatever Nick Saban says he can do, and I literally have zero fricks to give as far as how Nick Saban handles this.
Seriously...some posters act like this is Jalen Hurd...not Hurts...and Alvin Kamara, and that we have Butch fricking Jones running this program.

thanks Boz, I wasnt really doubting it. just bringing another point about Jalen's demise. Having to prep for Sugar and knowing that Tua was getting prepped too, then to really struggle in the CFB and watch him shine. Great for team, but terrible for self esteem. Not surprised he has seemingly lost it and is striking back. Not in his best interest because the clutter is not tolerated in the Saban arena.

It's unreal. Some of the comments are pathetic, honestly. They read like they were written by petulant grade school children.

Hopefully things will calm down in a few days/weeks depending on how practices go. Much of it is hyerbole. I believe if Tua made similar comments, people would be unhappy but they wouldn't be calling him to be on a plane to Hawaii right now because most believe he gives us the best chance to win. Must people would be suggesting a sit down with coach and his parents like what I think needs to happen with Jalen. Some of the responses to this sort of "mistake" I believe is over the top.
I want to talk about the entitlement piece because this is something constantly used to disparage young people and it is completely unfair. Wanting something for nothing is a problem but you can also actually be entitled to things. My father is entitled to my respect because of the way he raised me. My wife may feel entitled to know where I have been if I keep coming home at three in the morning because of our vows. After quarterbacking a team to two National Championship games and being a model citizen the entire time if you think that it is a bad entitlement that Jalen feels the coaching staff should have come to him to discuss the QB situation fair enough but I don't feel that is some type of terrible belief to have.
Again if this (his interview) is the ultimate tresspass for you, I'm not here to argue against your feelings. I do not believe he should have publicly said some of the things he said. However I also believe this issue is easily correctable and Jalen is an important person to have on the team this year. To me it seems odd how far some people are running with this.

You're right and you're paying for it in downvotes. Collect them proudly.

The stuff he says about Tua is more interesting than anything he says about Jalen. My biggest internal question is will Coach cut Tua loose and let him take risk and score points and not be concerned about the increased turnovers. I really hope he does since it is almost a consensus that Tua is a truly special talent.

Got a text saying Jalen was not at the team meeting. Could be anything but it’s odd for him.

I think he has to. The defense will be good, but I'm worried it might start off shaky. I'm not just concerned with all the new players, I believe Tosh is going to need some time as well.

This could be interesting especially since he is competing for the job. Sounds like a bad time to miss a meeting

Exactly.
Jalen didn’t really say anything outrageous, but people are running with their own interpretations about what he meant.
He has been a great representative of the school and his interview doesn’t change that. Whatever he decides to do, I wish nothing but the best for him.
