If big money boosters have the money to buy out Deboer, a better plan would be to use that money on NIL.

We hired the antithesis of Saban in coaching style. Ugh

Alabama fans aren't paying the buyout. DeBoer is safe for at least 3 more years. The extension reset his clock.

Loved CNS but his style of going off on guys won’t work anymore, even if they deserve it. Now, a lot of these guys if you do rip them a new rectum, they’ll storm off the field and say they’re hitting the portal. Not all players are that way but quite a few.
Times have changed and not necessarily for the better.

Cignetti is a major ahole.

This group has the weirdest obsession with becoming auburn from an athletic department standpoint

Exactly.
DeBoer is by all accounts a good coach...yes, there have been 3 games that just were head scratchers...consistency needs to be better, but this team also went on a great run last season between the FSU and Oklahoma debacles.
I have no idea who would even be an upgrade...certainly no one worth paying a buyout to get. He has a winning record against Smart and Lanning. Cignetti had one incredible year...can he sustain it? I'm not in to chasing one year wonders. So anyone talking about hot seats and leashes needs to also state who their 2-3 alternative options would be.

Then DeBoer would currently being coaching Michigan, half our team would be at other schools, and we'd have a coach we were forced to hire from the leftovers of last season's absolutely brutal coaching carousel.

He and Cignetti field a full team every year. Thats just the difference in me and you. The ones that stay will be worth it instead of having soft spoiled players that think they tell the coaches what they will do.

Thing with Oklahoma is it wasn’t even a coaching issue. We outgained them 450 to 250. It was Ryan dropping the punt on our 30 and then the uncalled blatant PI in the redzone that did it.

We owe him too much money to be able to put a leash on him. Good or bad, he's our coach for the next few years.

This is key and why these coaching contracts continue to be ridiculous even after disasters like Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly and Mike Norvell. Coaches can threaten to blow up the roster. It’s a reality of the transfer portal era that didn’t exist a previously. Once we hired DeBoer, we were stuck with him for a while unless his performance was so bad that nobody else would take him.

Y’all are forgetting that judging coaches is not the same as the pre NIL days.
Hard nosed, yelling and cussing is not going to work anymore.
And before you bring up Cignetti, remember his guys could tolerate his quirks and bad temperament because they were getting paid and paid well.
