How much control do you think Saban had

On the scheduling in 2024-2028?

Do you anticipate Bama working to get out of any of the scheduled OOC opponents given the strength of our conf schedule? The committee has made it crystal clear that W-L is all the matters.

Do any of you know how often they will adjust the conference schedule?
Bama seems to have gotten screwed on the current schedule?

The lack of Scheduling parity is a pet peeve of mine given todays version of CFB. And no I’m not afraid of competition but I am against being at a competitive disadvantage.

Zero. I don't think he cared.

And no, we won't try to get out of any of them.

Looking forward to the series with FSU, Ohio St and Notre Dame.

Always thought Saban would coach through 2026 since Bama is scheduled to play at West Virginia... figured it would have been a nice homecoming of sorts in his final season...but I think he just got tired of the portal shite and tapped out earlier than he probably had planned on.

Bama doesnt need to schedule rent a wins. Its embarrassing to want to duck competition to make a 12 team playoff

So the sec is not difficult (and getting more difficult) enough?

So you would rather play a very high quality regular season game than at the potential expense of making the playoffs? Makes no sense to me to sacrifice post season potential for an extra exciting Saturday in September.

We literally jumped an undefeated Power 5 champion with one loss this year

Your talking about a very specific situation where we ONLY got in because their QB was injured. Otherwise it was going to be an SEC-less playoffs.

You do know the playoff is expanded now right? The whole point of the tougher non-conference scheduling is to set yourself up for an at large spot if you don't win your conference.

I thought he had one more QB cycle in him. I thought he'd stay as long as Sayin and try to go out with at least one more NC.

Yeah. Don't blame him at all.

The portal and NIL plus his advancing age.
He would have dealt with any obstacles if he was younger.

You scared of tougher competition?

Bama played a tough out-of-conference team just about very year of Saban’s reign.

It’s made Bama a national brand again - and is amazing for recruiting.

I’d rather play top competition and not make the playoffs than to play a weak arse schedule just to make the playoffs.

This is a good debate topic. Will be interesting to see how things fall out in this and coming years. This is definitely worth bookmarking.

I’m good with playing one tough OOC team every year but two plus this new SEC schedule isn’t a plus IMO…even with the expanded playoff.
