Every, and I mean, every SiriusXM college sports radio talking head is pushing to keep out Bama as well.
It's an easy sell.
Bama fatigue, "conference champions", etc.
Further, IMO, I think keeping Bama out, along with teams like OU, Oregon, Penn State, Georgia, etc. will rise to getting an 8 team playoff, which I think deep down the talking heads want and need.

If we make the playoff the 8 team playoff with at large bids so the Pac 12 can get a team in becomes a reality ASAP. This is all the more reason I think we get in if we beat Auburn.

This is assuming they beat Oregon, which is no certainty. The media is so biased and corrupt. They don't even try to hide it.

The talking heads of college football are morons. You can literally count the competent ones with one hand. They are obsessed with being prisoners of the moment. Mark Packer, Stewart Mandel, Dan Wolken, Finebaum, etc. are a bunch of clowns who couldn’t argue themselves out of a paper bag and are obsessed with shiney new things.

An 8 team playoff is massively beneficial to Alabama going forward. What ever we can do to get there is a blessing

CFP Rankings with SOR & GC (game control)
#6 Utah SOR 11, GC 9 | #5 Bama SOR 5, GC 4

#6 Utah's Resumé ........ #5 Bama's Resumé
(Bama's resumé shuffled for comparability)
w 30-12 at BYU 7-4 ....... w 49-07 vs USM 7-4
w 35-17 vs N-IL 5-7 ...... w 62-10 vs NMS 2-9
w 31-00 vs IDST 3-9 ..... w 66-03 vs WCU 3-9
L 23-30 at USC 8-4 ....... L 41-46 vs LSU 11-0
w 38-13 vs Wazu 6-5 .... w 59-31 vs OMS 4-8
w 21-03 vs AZST 6-5 .... w 35-13 vs Tenn 6-5
w 35-00 vs CAL 6-5 ...... w 38-07 at MSU 6-6
w 33-28 at Wash 6-5 .... w 47-28 at ATM 7-4
w 49-03 vs Ucla 4-7 ...... w 42-03 ns Duke 4-7
w 35-07 at ARIZ 4-7 ...... w 48-07 vs ARK 2-9
__ __-__ vs COL 5-6 ........ w 47-23 at USC 4-7
__ __-__ ns ORE 9-2 ........ __ __-__ at AUB 8-3

1. Bama's loss to #2 LSU > Utah's to #22 USC.
2. Utah's best wins = Wash & AZST.
3. Bama's best wins = ATM & Tenn.
4. #14 ORE close losses: #15 AUB & AZST.
5. #15 AUB close losses: Top-15 LSU, UGA, UF.
6. ATM losses: Top-15 CU, UGA, AL, AU.
7. Tenn losses: Top-15 UGA, UA, UF.
8. OM, MSU, ARK losses: Top-15 LSU, UA, AU.
9. ORE vs AUB = only PAC12 vs ranked SEC.
Q: How many Top-15 teams are in the PAC12?

Bottom line: Bama's resumé > Utah's resumé.

Don't be surprised if Utah or Oklahoma jumps us, depending on how the games go.

There's nothing to get outraged about. We did this to ourselves by losing.

There's still a path for us but we don't control our own destiny.

While I understand your POV the other teams also lost. And lost to worse teams. Bama is getting punished for being in the sec west. Other teams have other opportunities to impress the committee. We will only have one more game to do so.

Right now it seems pretty clear just like in the past there is 3 teams that currently deserve to be in there. Then there is another 3 or 4 teams that you could make an argument for. Alabama being one of them. The problem is with our limited roster I am not sure just like the other teams vying for the 4th spot we can beat the top 3.

But I will say this the only logic I can see why OSU jumped LSU in my opinion is the committee sees UA getting the 4th spot and does not want a rematch with us and LSU in the semis. LSU will not get that spot back even with a win over UGA if OSU wins out against a top ranked UM and Minn in the B10CG.

At least it's some better than when the Northern/Northeastern media assured Notre Dame and The Big 10 would dominate the polls and awards unless there was a clear cut other choice.

Honestly, long term, getting left out isn't the worst thing. Especially with a team that is pretty clearly going to have to play perfect games to compete in the playoffs (unlike past teams).

- The whole "Bama is always in no matter what" narrative dies.
- Whoever ends up #4 probably gets beat up pretty bad in the first round. We (hopefully) go to the Orange Bowl and beat some hapless ACC team 45-7. People will look back on things are realize "Hey, maybe we should pay attention to the difference in beating 7-5 teams by 30 or beating them by 6".

I'm not hoping for it to happen, but of all the years where we are on the border to not get in I'd sacrifice this one to get rid of some of the other stuff going forward.

Also, I just won't feel slighted at all. In past years I truly thought we were one of the co-best teams in the country with a resume that was more than good enough. I just don't feel that way on either count right now. At best we have an equal resume with some, and unlike past years we aren't the terrifying force that people know will show up and crush people.

I think you've nailed it, SOG. With the injuries, defensive play, etc. I think most Bama fans can accept the miss the playoffs result.
But, really, Bama really needs to not blow any remaining chances by losing to Auburn.
If Bama loses to Auburn, and subsequently Utah and Oklahoma lose, Bama fans will be kicking themselves all off season, no matter what the result of a bowl game will be.

Yea, agree. Go out, play well and beat Auburn, finish 11-1. If we lose to Auburn this weekend this entire thing changes and the season is pretty much a failure, fair or not.

If we go 11-1 and don't make the playoffs, so what? Go out and whip the shite out of UVA or Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl, finish 12-1 and watch the media darling for the #4 seed get torn to shreds in the playoff.

With everything that has happened this year, the schedule that turned to shite, etc.......I'd be pretty happy with that result.

As far as this weekend goes, it will be certainly nice to see Bama finally play a complete dominant game from beginning to end.
Would make me feel much different about this team.
But, honestly, I really think Bama will continue to look unprepared, nervous, stupid for a large portion of the Iron Bowl.

Yea, agree - it's hard for me to say "if we play a game without penalties or blown plays" considering it's game 12 and it's happened in the first 11.

Is there an O/U on number of false starts, 12 men on the field, players out of position situations for Bama?
These are fundamentals that Bama lacks.

A tipped ball int, a fumble with a player trying to extra hustle, etc that goes against Bama is one thing, but the stupid stuff is infuriating.
And for the love of God, we know Gus will have tricks up his sleeve, please don't be gullible.
And on offense, please don't do the little dump passes out in the flats, it hasn't worked for any team against Auburn's defense all year.
It's almost a guaranteed 2-4 yard loss.
