How many practices have you attended with all 3? LOL!! I trust the coaches. I think an experienced QB in the room isn't a bad thing.

Saban built a machine here but we are clearly witnessing the decline of that machine. The hire of BOB and retaining Pete Golding showed he didn’t have the same fire. Why waste a scholly on a noodle armed Norte Dame kid when we have three capable qbs on our roster. BOB didn’t help Bryce, Ty or Jalen. The younger Saban would’ve canned him his first season.

I'll wait to see how this season turns out before making that determination. I still expect to beat everyone on our schedule this season. We've lost 4 games in the past 3 seasons, with 1 NC, a quarter away from winning another, and 2 SECCs. If that is a "decline" then we are one spoiled bunch(which we absolutely are.)

What a fricking dumbass statement. Alabama went 11-2 last year with two losses on the road on the last play of the game and blasted the the Big 12 champion in the Sugar Bowl. I actually think that Pete Golding is the one who should have been fired long before now. He sucks. O'Brien was certainly not great but Pete was the shittier of the two. As much as I dislike O'Brien, Bryce did win the Heisman in 2021.

Nobody is. And yet many of them do. The only thing he's guaranteed is an opportunity to compete.

I believe he's listed at 6'1"

These guys love to compete. It makes them better. I welcome a guy that wants to come prove something or learn something.

Bama can not afford to go back to the barely can complete a forward pass years of 2016 and 2017 though.
27-2 with an SEC Title, a CFP NC, and what should’ve been a 3-peat CFP NC if Lane Kiffin wasn’t an epic douche.
Tough times, indeed.

Correct.
Buchner is easily the best of the Bama QBs.
He's tough mentally and physically, is a good athlete with a live body and good speed and some agility. His arm is adequate and accuracy decent. He is already far ahead of JM and TS in reading defenses. He is a definite upgrade.
My understanding is that the coaching staff does not think that JM or TS are currently capable of leading this offense. Lonergan is their current favorite but of course is a true Fr. who is also not quite ready but might be the best bet if not for TB.
The A-Day game is one of the least important practices of the spring - almost meaningless. Most fans read WAY too much into a "scripted for effect" practice. The coaches have seen these QBs for 15 real practices and know help is needed. As f2s says, TB's not coming as a backup.
I would be surprised if TB does not win the job this Fall and think he has real promise. Nothing like Tua, Mac or Bryce but possibly adequate if the other parts of the team are what they think.
IMO, the primary problem with this program the last couple of years was not the coordinators, though they didn't help, especially DC, but the mental and physical softness that had descended upon the program. That's on CNS, the greatest of all time, but his ability to adapt led him to over adapt towards finesse and his program became sickeningly soft, especially mentally.
CNS seems to have addressed it with the coordinator hires, but it remains to be seen. Alabama needs to knock some jocks off and like it - not curl up in a ball "stressed" as they did occasionally during tough times. Bryce's ability masked a lot, though anyone with eyes could see that "Alabama" no longer existed. One dimensional AU ran the ball down their throat. TB is tough and seemingly has enough real talent.
Legitimate hope that he's Coker on steroids: much faster, much quicker, much more compact and quick delivery, not quite as accurate, not as big, just as tough, probably smarter.
If they can get by Texas, of which they are capable, they could run the regular season table and have a mountain of momentum heading into the post season as the new/old Alabama.

This is what a real rebuild year looks like folks. Golding and BoB set us up for this mess and we will get though it. However don’t fool yourself, this will be a tough year.
Now we may get lucky and have a shot at something late in the year but don’t count on it. Temper your expectations now and I think you can still enjoy next season.
