Be careful with the oysters as the flesh eating disease is hitting hard this year.

Wait, what?

This is a thing?

Where?

20 people got it in Louisiana in late August, and 2 died.

As the weather gets colder it should be safe again.

Supposedly they've figured out how to safely serve oysters year round, but the incident in Louisiana proves otherwise.

Probably still should avoid them during the warmer months. (Months not ending in R)

Wow great post, great suggestions. Thanks dude!

Ya the Blue Angels practice thing would unreal but I fly into Pensacola this Friday afternoon, unfortunately.

I think I'm gonna take the scenic detour south to the Naval Aviation Museum on my way west to Orange Beach, it looks pretty cool and it's free so why not.

RTR EHH!!

Also, would you guys suggest I buy a toll pass with my rental car or do a 'pay as u go' type thing..?
Appears I could run into quite a few tolls traveling around the region.

oh yeah dude, totally forgot about that-definitely check that out. Its a Smithsonian grade museum full of incredible artifacts, aircraft, spacecraft, and history, and its FREE! You really won't have to detour much if you take Gulf Beach Highway, and that is the quickest way from PEN to OB.

You'll see a lot of meth zombies and homeless as your drive through west Pensacola, but by and large the rest of the panhandle isn't like that. For some reason they just love west Pensacola, and our city gov't allows it. They are pretty much harmless, just don't run over them-they have an affinity for carelessly strolling into the road.

I wouldn't buy a pass. There aren't enough where it'd be worth it. Just pay as you go.

Everywhere there is warm water and/or oysters. 5 have died in Louisiana this year alone. Multiple deaths in the gulf coast area.

Don't swim in warm water with a cut either.

Museum on NAS Pcola is phenomenal. Would definitely recommend.

Restaurant wise for lunch in Destin:

Boshamps is a must.

If you don’t want seafood in Destin (or Pensacola), try McGuire’s. There’s one in Destin and Pensacola (Pensacola was the original). Good food and gigantic portions.

One of the best ribeyes you can get anywhere. Brew their own beer, and great mixed drinks. I prefer the one in Pensacola, but I grew up over that way.

Second Boshamps. Great food and wonderful views. My favorite in Destin.

I will add that if you want Thai food, this area has a wonderful selection.

Alright, never mind him, he probably barks at random people and thinks it's funny...

Question for the dudes around Destin..
I'm staying near Miramar Beach for a night, any recommendations around there..?
Also, I'm thinking of driving the 30A road to Panama City Beach and back, is that a cool day drive?? Lemme know

Thx boys, RTR, Bama Rules North America ??

Beautiful beaches, unbelievable food. Get fried crab claws, fried oysters and fried shrimp. Tell Donna at the door the Bear was better than Saban and you’ll get in for free. Be sure to check out bahama bob’s and the hangout. You’ll have a great time!

Miramar Beach and Destin are connected and on top of each other so anything is easy to get to. PCB is touristy but fun. 30A go to Seaside and eat at Great Southern Cafe or Pickles. Thank me later.

A couple of good places to eat in Perdido is Fishemans Corner and the Salty Pearl. They are next to each other under the intercoastal bridge (north side).

Live in PC, driving 30A is a bit of an issue some days b/c traffic can be brutal on the weekends. While there are some amazing houses there, you cannot see the beach from the road.

Seaside b/c of the Truman Show is neat and has decent food trucks but bring your 401K.

Alys Beach is beautiful, one of my favorite spots but not much to do, just some amazing houses. Great walking spot as there are some hidden statues in the neighborhoods that make it a fun walk.

Not discouraging you from it, just be aware its all traffic and houses. If you do decide to hit 30A, drive all the way down to The Red Bar, good food and music. They have had many impromptu stars play there so you never know.

And I cant believe no one else has mentioned Parlor Doughnuts, you are Canadian after all. ??

PCB isn't too bad either but it is seperate from 30A.

I would also recommend a fishing charter or head boat trip if you really want to see dolphins/sharks and catch some good fish.

Enjoy your stay but try to relax more than drive to see everything. Spend more time here next time and do more. I would recommend sticking around Destin/Pcola tbh.

Thanks dude. Great stuff!

Yeah, I already wish I'd have more time to see and do everything. All good though, I'll take in as much as can and come back.

Cheers! Roll Tide!

Perdido Key/ Orange Beach is unreal.
The 'redneck riviera' is legit and it's glorious.
