Thought the exact same thing when I watched them lose to Appy State Saturday night. He looked like a defeated man during that game, no fire. He might need a change of venue and a step back out of the pressures of being a head coach. The man can coach defense, he's proven that in spades.

Stark recruits at such a high level as well.. he can be a decent OC and easily make up for it in the talent he brings in. I would keep him.. Golding on the other hand.. looses a lot of battles

I’m the best at making statements that don’t jeopardize coaches or their families. You should be thankful for that.

You can believe whatever you like and things like this always come after a loss because someone always gets the blame.

Are you refuting Tua didn’t practice and Mac was first in line?

Does it seem like maybe our defense has been sub par partly because of coaching and partly because of personnel?

I think it would be Saban playing of bluff keeping Tua out.

For one these committee and the media is huge on perception.

If Tua were to have to sit out the week after LSU, paints a picture that the kid wasn't healed from surgery forced himself out there and those mistakes earlier on were due to this.

That paints the LSU defeat in a completely different light and gives credence that if Tua was healthy we would have won.

That can't hurt us...

Then again we need to destory every team we face so we need Tua for that even though MSU is terrible.

I’d like to have Boom back too but it sounds like he’s getting one more year in Columbia to turn it around.

Tim DeRuyter at Cal should get a look too. Dude has put together some skrong defenses with less than spectacular talent.

Boz, Saban wouldn’t give Sunseri a shot at interim DC would he? He was turrible at UT.

Maybe we can hire someone from Little Sisters of the Poor this time. They are big rivals with UTSA, where our genius DC came from.

I don't think that we need Tua for that against MSU.

And he's been Nick Saban's DC before.

I think he's gone. Here's what the USCe president said about him:

"“Coach Muschamp is my coach. That’s the message. He will be my coach through the end of the season,” Caslen said. “And then, just like any other coach that’s out there, whether it’s a soccer coach, whether it’s the equestrian coach, whatever, they’re going to do an end-of-year assessment, the athletic director does. Then, we’ll see what’s up.”

LINK

That's hardly a vote of confidence.

IMO, we've had two years of failed experiments at DC. And I don't buy the argument for putting someone in that spot just because they can recruit. Between Nick Saban and all the first-round draft picks, any decent assistant should be able to a great job recruiting to Alabama. I'd like to see an experienced, successful DC in that spot. Muschamp would be perfect.

Well, as a side note, Boom can recruit pretty damn well too. Just look at the current USCe roster and there's plenty of guys on there that have no business being in Columbia instead of Athens or Tuscaloosa or Clemson.

Exactly.

And I'd rather have excellent coaches who can take a Chance Warmack and turn him into a first-round draft pick.

I’d love to have Boom. There are a few options out there that would be awesome hires. If we sneak in this thing we are going to have to figure something out on defense. I’m not talking stop everything just serviceable.

Saban took a chance on a young up and coming coach in Golding. He just didn't work out. He can recruit and apparently does really well in an interview but he is a below average coordinator at this sc time. He may be elite in another ten years much like Steele ended up getting much better after a few stops but we don't have that kind of time. I dont want a demotion either because he is a worse position coach if that's possible. I hope you are right Boz. It's time.

I think the Bama defense was serviceable in the 2nd half of the LSU game. Held them to 13 points.

If it wasn't for the offense and special teams giving LSU 10 points, the defense could have held the LSU offense to 36 points.

^^^^this. Defense did a good enough job to win if our offense and special teams aren’t actually liabilities in the first half.

I think the defense at time did well in the game IE just like the offense. Better in the second half. However, if it is truly just the players and not coaching we are what we are.

The reality is that we've laid complete eggs in all or part of our last few big games.

We've been a better team than we performed every time.

Perhaps the injuries the last few years have hurt us on the leadership front more than we understand.

Dylan Moses could be missed more for leadership than his actual play. McMillon, too.

People overuse the term Alpha. We don't need more Alphas - we need more players on defense who will tear into someone's arse for messing up. You don't have to be an Alpha to do that - you just have to be a Starter and an arse-tearer.

If I'm Saban, I try to find a few mean sumbitches, in HS or someone else on the depth chart. I really hope Kaho gets it between the ears. He seems like a crazy person, and I'm know some great LBs who were crazy people. We need that arse-tearing mean mutherfuhker, a few of them.

A dude like Rolando McClain; he was both an Alpha and someone who would tear someone's arse for messing up...plus the dude was like a coach on the field as he knew Saban's defense like the back of his hand...
