The amount of bitching about this is really embarrassing, ya'll are like teenage girls. Even my IRL friends have been bitching about it. Talk about focusing on ridiculous BS.
Gameday has come to Tuscaloosa a gazillion times, it's probably hard to find a guest picker that's relevant that many times.
Besides, it's ESPN's show, they do the show for themselves not for the host schools. If they can get a celebrity guest picker that they think will drive ratings they will probably do that. They don't owe the host campus a loyalist guest picker.
The amount of wailing that goes into what the media does or says is absurd, it's not just our fanbase of course but it's sad that a program as accomplisehd as ours still isn't immune to this petty non-sense.

Julio Jones
Amari Cooper
Shaun Alexander
AJ McCarron
CJ Mosley
That's five off the top of my head.
Instead they picked a Vanderbilt fan who was the Guest Picker at another venue two years ago.
We have legitimate beef.

Thought the same. Wondered why this was thread was so long.

If the selection of celebrity picker on gameday is on your beef list, your beef list is way, way, way too long.

What?
You've got it backwards.
My beef list is so short this sort of shite makes me mad.

I don't really give a damn what gameday does with their broadcast. There definitely seems like they trend towards doing what people are griping about when they come to Tuscaloosa. However, we're probably one of their most frequent trips and I've got to imagine, for example, Ohio State has a similar problem but we don't give a shite about their trips to Columbus.
We have our retired, greatest of all time head coach on the set every weekend and the host is a graduate. It seems much ado about nothing. The Alabama flavor is in every broadcast these days.

Who is watching College Gameday for the guest picker? I would be surprised if that has any real impact on ratings. Even if it did, this guy is certainly not the answer.

Apparently his most recent set bombed hard in Austin so I would not bet on him being too funny either!

If tweet fails to load, click here. Looks like ESPN has gone back to selecting someone with actual ties to the host team.

Yeah, but its a ESPN pushed WNBA player.
One thing I loathe more than our being screwed on celebrity picks is how much ESPN tries to shove that league down our throats

Definitely a pick to "drive the ratings."

Heather Headley stars in Sweet Magnolias. has stated in interviews that she married into alabama football royalty. her husband is brian musso, johnny musso's son. p.s. shes a fantastic singer also, having toured with andrea bocelli. i think she'd be a great guest picker for bama.
