I've said several times, even before the season and even on this board, that Sarkisian would probably be coaching somewhere else next year. I'd not like it to be Auburn but still.

Now, with the early signing period, it will be easier than ever to concentrate on the playoffs rather than having to recruit for the new place, and yes, I know Auburn still has to fill out their class. In any event, if Sarkisian does take another job before the playoffs, I expect his primary focus will be on this team.

There have been a good number of Alabama fans that say they wouldn't want Sarkisian as head coach at Alabama, and more that don't like "coach in waiting" type situations. Now is a good time to reflect on that.

I was hoping he would stick around next year... our offense will be young and inexperienced

Every coordinator that has agreed to another job during a Bama playoff run has been nothing but professional and dedicated to Bama except for Kiffin.

Kiffin can't help himself, he's a perpetual 15 year old.

I'm fully confident Sark will do the same thing. To be honest, that might be a deal breaker with Auburn. It wouldn't sit well with a large part of their fanbase to watch their new coach potentially winning a natty for the dreaded UAT.

would be great but I didn't really expect him back next year, though I certainly hope he is. I am one that would be just fine with some kind of next coach in line situation. Pay the man.

If he doesn't return I would not be surprised if Major Applewhite were to return from his new job with Jones. Yes, he did fail his one year as OC but that was years ago. Maybe he even learned a lot with Sarkisian.

I could be wrong, but I doubt Sark wants AU's HC job. Recruiting and competing against UA, LSU, A&M, AR, OM, MSU in the west, UGA (& UF) in the east. Big money boosters with very unrealistic expectations and meddlesome control. Freeze doesn't want it. He'll wait on LSU or UT to open.

ETA: AU's roster and recruiting class are way down, especially OL & DL. It's a tough rebuilding challenge. Going 500 in SEC games next season might be their ceiling.

If he lands the job...would he really want Bama to win another title?

would he want national champion on his resume'?

I think he's tight enough with Saban not to be a Smart arse.

We are on the Verge of completing the greatest season of all time and maybe our most important piece is gonna be distracted.

Barn is not gonna want Sark to help Bama win another Natty.

they didn't want Kirby Smart to coach in the title game in 2012. He did, they hired Malzahn, and here they are again. Now Smart has a better job.

I would think Saban has already given Sark the same advise that he gave Kirby when Kirby interview for the AU job, ask them who is ultimately in charge down there, and demand total football control without outside (the Rane, Lowder, Harbet types) interference (except for the normal AD/president compliance oversight stuff).

There's not a snowballs chance they'd give Sark that control, just like they weren't willing to give Kirby that control.

Hopefully, they didn’t learn their lesson with Kirby

Sark is the best Auburn could have gotten IMO, I think he'd be a great hire for them. Hopefully it doesn't happen, would love to keep him as OC and keep Auburn from getting better.

So much for Joel Klatt’s speculation of an “agreement” between Sark and Alabama for him to get heavy consideration for HC at Alabama when Saban retires.

Except Kiffin...and Kirby. He may have stayed all the way through but that douche nozzle was focused on anything but the Bama defense. He was more interested in poaching coaches and players to take with him to UGA and stealing recruiting info.

Auburn to interview Napier and Clemson OC Elliot

How Napier hasn’t been their top target since Cristobal turned them down is crazy to me. There’s no way he’d turn down SEC level money to go to the plains, and at least he has HC experience.

If I were the PTB there my first choice would be Napier, and if he turned me down my backup plan would be Clark.

As if this wasn't the plan all along. Tenn, uga, barn, etc. You name it everyone in the sec is trying to bring Saban down. The only way they can do it is go after his staff.

Its worked frankly... Saban got to keep his staff for one year, and he's going to win a title, and a recruiting title. The sec isn't going to let him keep his staff intact.

this is unhinged? yikes tbh. auburn's plan was...to suck bad enough they wanted to fire their coach so they could...hire our offensive coordinator as we...made the playoffs? "it worked"? not a single team you mentioned was even competitive with bama this year.

sober up man.

You think Pruitt was the best Tenn could do ?

Career assistant Kirby was the best UGA could do ?

I think if all things are equal these other programs will take a coach from Nick before theyre even ready to try to slow him down.

If you dont think staff attrition hasn't hurt Nicks shot at winning 1 maybe 2 other titles during this dynasty well,... I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

*Edit- the idea certainly isn't "unhinged" BTW. If you want to see unhinged send me address to the nearest sonic to your house- I'll be there in ten minutes sumbitch. How big a fella are ya ?

Hopefully the administration lets him know that we hate it that he won’t ever be able to come back and take the Bama job. Hint hint.
