My second son was born at UAB on Tuesday night, but has been in the NICU since because he kept desatting randomly with no real reason. Well, he's been doing better and we are all going home tomorrow afternoon.
My wife loves steak served medium, but she hasn't been allowed to eat anything that wasn't 100% done while pregnant. Now that she can, and since we got the good news that we can go home, I want to order a nice dinner to pickup from some place downtown, I just don't know the restaurants very well anymore. Its been 10 years since I was in the area consistently. Any advice on where to order from specifically?
BTW, my wife made us a future Bama Olineman. Kid was 13 days early and still weighed in at 8lbs 8.5 ounces. Nurse said he would have been close to 10lbs if he made it full term.

Fleming's, Ruth's, J.D. Alexander's, Highlands, any of the hipster places like The Essential. The best value steak in BHam is Costa's but that is South in Hoover.
Also congrats!
Also congrats!

Thanks brudda. He got here just in time for kickoff.
Was the first place I looked at, but they are "Temporarily Closed".
too far to get delivered.
Probably who we are going with.

Congrats man hope things keep moving in the right direction.
Lots of good local options but if you’re doing delivery or takeout, a high end chain like Ruths or Flemings will probably have a better setup for it to get to you in as best condition as possible.
If you’re going with Ruths I highly recommend getting the mac and cheese on the side

Its kind of funny, we waited too long to decide. To the point my wife couldn't wait anymore, and I ended up just getting Panera Bread because it was in the hospital.

Came here to mention I'm partial to Ruth's Chris but this made me laugh. I can relate

I know I am too late to help you out tonight but take that new Momma to Michael's Parkside and order her a Steer Butt. You can thank me later. At the original location, it was tagged as the place where sportsmen meet and eat.

Congrats! Would recommend Chez Fon Fon. Very close to UAB in the Five Points area.

I can fire up the grill. Maybe throw in a couple of sausages and some tater salad with it . . .
BTW - Congrats to you are your family!
Edit: You went to Panera - that’s cool too. Hopefully they had the French onion or Broccoli cheese soup and a fresh slice of French bread for mama.

As far as high end chain steakhouses go, I favor Fleming's over Ruth's Chris. Perry's also hasn't been mentioned.

My favorite is the filet at Ocean with a couple of lobster tails tossed on the plate
Congrats!
Congrats!
