We have two legit Qbs. Both of them make north of 2 million NIL. Penix said Mack would be a household name. QBs dont usually talk about their backups for no reason at all.
QB is the least of our worries. We will average around 300 yards a game passing and thats a generous number.
Unfortunately only 1 guy can lead the team. I think ultimately the staff knows they can convince Keelon to stay if they start Mack this season. And it could be that DeBoer feels obligated to give Mack a shot or else hed be a first round projected QB starting for Washington right now.

Where would he go?
The new rule of 5 for 5 means he would lose a year of eligibility regardless of staying in town or leaving.
If Mack balls out he's likely a first round pick. Russell would be the obvious starter going into his 3rd year in the program for 2027.
Point being, it would be foolish for him to leave.

. I think whichever one loses is leaving to get on the field SOMEWHERE. Haven even alluded to this but they have got to get some tape out there for NFL scouts . Ty was a rare one ( I assume) that played just one year and was a 1st round pick … some GMs even alluded to this before the draft . Like I say, I will be behind whichever one wins the job . He may not amount to anything ( I seriously doubt ) but it is hard to watch KR’s film and not come away thinking we have a chance at something really special with him

I imagine that Texas Tech and Miami are keeping a close eye on our QB situation. If we have a Jalen/Tua 2017 situation where Mack starts and looks pretty good, and Keelon looks elite in mop up duty, it shouldn't shock anyone if he leaves for a 5 million + dollar pay day next season

I think the wild card in what you're saying is invariably, there are often people in a kid's ear encouraging him to leave, even when it may not be in the player's best interest.
It's crazy the number of players who have left Bama for "greener pastures" and then did pretty much nothing at their new school. I always think about what CNS used to say about the grass being greener on the other side of the hill. It's because there's often a septic tank beneath that hill. LOL.
I think whoever loses the starting QB competition, they're probably going to want to leave UNLESS Bama makes them an offer they can't refuse. I think if Russell wins the job, Mack will leave. Frankly, I wouldn't blame him. He could and would start at probably 80-90 per cent of the schools out there. Would love for him to stay at Bama as the back up but I just don't see it unless he's offered a crazy amount of $$ to stay.

I don't really care one way or another who starts at RB, but the closest comp for Daniel Hill at Alabama is probably Jalston Fowler, and I don't think he's as good or versatile as nudie was. I think they're comparable running the ball and would give Hill a slight edge catching it and Fowler a big edge in blocking. I saw Hill get tackled by the first guy too many times last year to feel bad for him at 240 pounds.
I think it's all just a formality until Crowell is up to speed, but Dear is the other one in the room that looks like a high level SEC back off the bus. We need guys that can get yards on their own regardless of line improvement of lack thereof, whether that's the ability to find a small hole, make a guy miss, or break a tackle. Our backs last year didn't have any blocking, but if you got your hands on them they were going down.

I miss seeing the day when we had 2 DL line up as up backs in front of a bruiser of a TB and we just punched it in from 3 or 4 yards out.

I agree. RB talent has been clearly at a low lately. There were teams with much worse offensive lines who had RBs capable of making people miss.
We were terrible at RB last season.

If you're talking about next season then yeah there's no amount of money Mack should take to stay and be the backup. He'd basically be forfeiting the chance at an NFL career.
If you mean this season he's got no choice but to be the backup if he loses. Transfer portal doesn't open until January and he'd be an idiot to just decide to sit out.

We’ve heard great things about what happened “in the weight room” over the summer before in the last few years, just for us to be mediocre on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. I’ll have to see it to believe it because I’m currently out on Ballou as the S&C coach.

Ever since the 2022 season where the OL had one guy talk about a return to joyless murderball then that unit proceeded to not get a tough yard all season, I have not credulously listened to any preseason noise from the players.
