Just me, I think Russell will win the job but the staff needs to see that he consistently goes where the coverage takes him. I bet, since he has such natural arm talent, he makes some cocky throws that create turnovers or hospital balls in practice. This is just speculation based on comments from the coaches over the offseason. So who knows but consistency has been mentioned. I think turnovers have even been mentioned specifically too.

personally i think mack gets the nod. however, i also think ckd will loosen up a good bit on getting kr12 meaningful playing time.

In the Elijah Haven interview that was posted here the interviewer asked if the Alabama coaches had outlined a plan for him. He said:
“They have a QB battle going on right now so whoever doesn’t get the job will look at other opportunities. So I can come in a develop for a year while they start and then be ready to go after that”
Whoever loses the battle is definitely bouncing. They don’t have the eligibility to waste and we don’t have the NiL to waste.

I'd rather have two years of Russell than Mack to be quite honest. Mack has 2nd/3rd round type of ceiling in an average NFL draft class. Russell has #1 overall ceiling.
Russell just needs to be consistent and protective of the football enough for the coaches to trust him. His ceiling is too high to let him walk because he ain't sitting for two years behind Mack.

Haven isn't guaranteed anything after Russell is gone.
Thomalla, Kaawa and Seaborn will all be there as well.

Well yeah. I mean it’s not going to be handed to him or anyone. He was just detailing what he’s been told about his path to starting.
On paper and as a prospect he’s seen as better than all those guys so we’ll see how it goes

Same. If Russell can make good decisions I think he has a higher ceiling than Mack, and I assume that is the gap between them that has, reportedly at least, kept it so close. That part not clicking would really be a shame, because from an arm talent standpoint he's incredible.

out of curiosity, which would you guys prefer? russell or haven? i seen some talking head saying haven is a bit raw.

I’m biased because Haven was a guy I was hoping would end up with us for years.
Realistically, if Russell wins the job then Haven would only have to back him up for a year so you can have both.
The knock on Haven is that he plays a fairly low level of high school ball in LA(much like Arch) so you worry about the adjustment when you aren’t playing against Catholic school girls. But he also looks great at national camps and events like Elite 11.
He has a bit of a weird arm angle too but that doesn’t matter as much when you’re as tall as him.

I can’t see that happening. He’s not going to play two QBs like Florida did in 2006 nor are we (or really any SEC team) going to be blowing out teams routinely enough to get the backup tons of playing time like Hurts in 2018
Which ever of the two wins is guy. The things I mentioned above are very much an anomaly especially in today’s game

I have heard Seaborn is the truth. But i think he is on the small side for a QB. If he hits a growth spurt, he might be the guy.

I get the feeling that if Brooks wins the RT job (which would be a good sign) then J.James plays at LG.

I wouldn’t say I’m underrating him. Glad he’s on the team and may the best man win.

Jett was the number 4 qb in a weaker QB class and Elijah is number 1 in a fairly strong qb class.
All of this is on paper so doesn’t mean anything until they suit up but this is all projecting and that’s all we can do til then.

Fullback. Do we have a true fullback on the team? I remember Sanders being used behind the line on at least one play last year. He pulled around and smashed a defender. It was some sort of counter power. Nice play design.
I remember years ago LSU converted a former 5 star DT to fullback.
