If Tennessee loses another game and Alabama wins out, Alabama is likely in the SEC Championship Game.

I think being SEC champions would be nice regardless of what happens in the playoff, but it does seem like getting the 5 or 6 seed and playing Miami, SMU, Colorado, or BYU in round 2 seems like a better draw than who the 1 or 2 seed will probably get in a quarterfinal.

I don’t think it’s a sure thing the committee would drop a 10-3 conference title loser for a 10-2 team that didn’t make the conference title game.

Our strength of schedule is 11th per ESPN vs UGA 1, Texas 55, UT 35, Mizzou 27, Ole Miss 23, A&M 21.

We’d probably move up from 11 with an extra game against a top 10 opponent, so UGA is the only team that should be ranked above us if we have an equal number of wins.

With all the upsets the last few weeks, Bama might not even have to win the SECG to get in. There's a good chance they win an at large bid if they win out and even if they miss the SEC title game

Who knows what the committee will do. As of right now, it looks like:

Big 12 - 1 team
ACC - 1 team
Group of 5 - 1 team
Big 10 - 4 teams
SEC - 4 teams
Notre Dame

The issue is that in the SE, there is a possibility, albeit remote, that there is an 8-way tie for first place in the conference. How does the committee deal with that?

Just win remaining games and everything else will works itself out. Another loss, non SECCG, is a definitely an out of the playoffs scenario. SECCG loss could still get us in over teams that didn't play a CG, IMO.

I think we need to cancel conference championship games and make that weekend or the next the first round of the playoffs. The conference championship is a liability.

Seeing how well we played coming off our 2 bye weeks, I say let two other teams beat each other up while we stay home and rest.

Let's suppose 3 loss teams are out.
Let's suppose 4 SEC Teams in

It's looking like Georgia might be ahead of Bama in this weeks ranking. That might mean then winner of Georgia v Tennessee are going to Atlanta. And the loser likely drops below Bama and Ol Miss.

So you have

Texas SEC Champs

TEXAS
Tennessee
BAMA
OL MISS

OR

Tennessee SEC Champs

TENNESSEE
TEXAS
BAMA
OL MISS

Georgia SEC Champs

Georgia
Texas
TENNESSEE
BAMA
OL MISS (OUT)

So I have Bama not going to Atlanta and likely in the 5 through 8 spot.

However, Ol Miss is highly regarded now. So theoretically, should Bama struggle in these last three games and Ol Miss blow everyone out, a Georgia Chanpionship could cost Bama the playoffs.

So we really should be pulling for Tennessee at this point.

The CFP committee already said the loser won't be punished for playing the extra game.
