I was sorely disappointed with the lack of DL push the entire night. Stockton generally had all day to throw because he had near zero pressure. This isn't the first game this has been an issue but it was certainly the worst. We are better than last year but we have more work to do there. We seemed to be trying to hold Stockton in the pocket and make it easy for their OL to hold block assignments......Wommack finally adjusted some toward the end of the game to help them but it was too late.

Then you are blind until the 4th qtr they got pressure. He was not sitting back there with all day to pass and until the 4th was doing a decent job of controlling the run game.

Georgia was obviously lucky with the big calls and fumble bounces going their way.

However, their Oline did pass protect better than ours. My impression was some of our defensive calls with max coverage actually had Stockton off balance but Georgia did a very good job when we sent extra guys.

Better than we did.

For all the talk about the defense on here, giving up 20 points should have been good enough had our Oline given Russell a bit better protection.

I dont know that its that so much, We know when they are coming and we should have designed plays to hurt them when they do

Getting rid of the ball quickly. Quick trapping runs, There are a lot of ways to hurt teams that sell out like UGA did,You cant run slow developing pass plays like we run in the face of that pressure.

Their OL played VERY well but having Green go down with an injury showed bigly in the second half. Also hurts not having Hill and Zulu for this game, they would have been essential parts of the gameplan if available.

Bottom line is this - Stockton played his arse off, almost everything went against us officiating and “luck” wise and if they throw the flag on that blatant PI, we’re first and goal, down 3 with under four minutes left.

I don’t think UGA wants to see us again.

This is one where we would’ve like having that OLB depth back but their OL is good enough to handle our 3-4 DL rush. We still got back there a few good times so it’s not like it wasn’t there. We just didn’t blitz as much from what I could saw and in hindsight maybe we should’ve

This combined with them having possibly the best OL in the country is why we struggled relative to other games defending the run.

We also had some really bad safety and LB run fits at times.

Well when Hill and Dez got hurt he needed to be outside and is playing a lot of snaps.

Now with Green hurt too hes gonna be back inside more which he wasnt as effective at during his previous stop.

Absolutely this. Especially with a young qb.

I’m not dogging Pierre but I expected a lot more from him this year. At some point last nite, I thought we should have brought four rushers because three and the spy weren’t working. And if we are going to rush three, on obvious passing downs, I think it has to be Griffin and Pierre on the outside, and Devan in the middle

I'd like to think we have a different defensive game plan next time. I found the first 3 quarters to play moreso into Georgia's strengths. It allowed the QB to have all day with little pressure and their running game to get a downhill start. Especially when the DL was getting stone walled and was basically running straight ahead....During the game I was think back to Joe Lee Dunn or Brother Oliver defensive schemes might work but that is not the style that Wommack plays.

Pierre has been pretty damn good this year. He had some insane speed off the snap on a few plays i noticed last night.

Apparently their Oline is huge and that showed on the right side of their line. Two of their offensive linemen kept caving in the left side of our DL regardless of what they did. So, if we play them again Wommack is going to have to find another method of attacking because just lining them up man on man ain't going to cut it.

That big run where Lee ran into the ref, everybody had the right fit. He cut it back (looked designed) and there’s Bray Hubbard letting a tackle put him on skates instead of making the stop in the cutback lane. Then Sabb comes up and misses a tackle. I’ve been pretty disappointed with both those guys this year. Hubbard is a pretty instinctive player when he’s blitzing, but he misses way too many 1 on 1 tackles in the hole. Sabb just isn’t a great tackler.

Maybe Hubbard is coached to do this, but if you’re the outside defender and you’re being coached to attack the inside shoulder of the blocker then you’re asking for an explosive run.
