Any chance someone like Glen Schumann would be interested in joining this staff or is DeBoer bringing someone? I have no clue if this was covered somewhere else….

Would be very difficult to pull Schumann. I'm not sure that I want the Washington defensive coordinator at all, even though I was surprised by how much they recovered in the second half against Michigan.

Doibt he would leave Kirbys staff to join one of a coach he doesn't know. I wouldn't mind promoting T Rob to DC. I think we will hire a good one whoever it is.

It’s hard to imagine Schumann leaving Kirby if it’s not for Saban, BUT to spread some hopium:

Bama is his alma mater. Saban is still around. If he takes the job, he gets 100% of the credit for what the defense accomplishes instead of sharing it with Saban or Smart.

I think we’d have to make him the highest paid coordinator in CFB as well, which we have the resources to do.

DeBoer has co-DCs and they have been with him for 4 years. I think you should probably expect them here.

If he hires someone new I want Minter from Michigan. College and NFL experience. Seems to be a great game planner.

why? Promotion and raise, coaching equivalent players as DC in his own right, for the best program in history and his alma mater? Just back up the money truck and get it done

Harbaugh is probably moving on to the NFL too so unless Harbaugh takes him with him he’ll likely be looking for a job soon. He might be good enough that Harbaugh takes him with him.

I think this is the reason Saban says he's sticking around to help with decisions like this. NS can give him a short list of guys he would have hired and suggest he target them.

Saban hasn’t been hitting home runs on the coordinator hires.

If he brings his offensive staff and keep these WRs to stay we are going to be good.

Milroe probably needs to go ahead and hit the portal now.

That's true, but I don't think it's because he didn't know who to hire. It became difficult to get people because they didn't want to be blindsided by retirement and live the one and done scenario that just happened to Rees. His worst coordinator hire ever was Golding and we all thought that was more about avoiding poaching and believing he could develop him than anything else

I thought I liked Rees. The more I think of it he needs to go. Boring vanilla play calling. He needs to go.
