Newsflash…outside of Kirby and Sark, most “Saban Tree” coaches have failed miserably.
Think of it this way. If DeBoer works out great. If DeBoer fails? Well, we can then go get the coach that “followed the guy that followed the GOAT.”
Personally, I think that Deboer’s offensive scheme is top of line good. I have zero worries there. If he can get the defense worked out, I really believe he can be successful. Enjoy the ride.

This is his culture! What we've seen this season sure is hell isn't the culture Saban left.
You have a short memory of how undisciplined we were the last two years.
Also, Saban didn’t have to contend with the transfer portal and nil his entire time here. That’s why he retired. Times change and you have to change with them or be left in the past.

Yes he is.
Bottom line: DeBoer is an offensive guy like Sark or Kiffin.
The difference right now is he's working with a mentally deficient QB in Milroe - a guy he would've NEVER recruited.
His Washington team was so deadly because he calls an aggressive offensive style with a QB that will tear you apart, and bad arse receivers. That's why his teams have swagger.
When you have a retarded QB, his entire MO goes out the window.
I just hope Alabama fans are smart enough to give this guy time. We need to give him AT LEAST 2 years before we expect a championship.

Agreed. A lot of people said that Dabo was stuck in the past the way that he does things. Clemson has quietly become really good since the opening game debacle. Maybe that’s just an exception to the rule.

Let's not give them or Dabo too much credit, they are competent but they havent played a team with a winning record since UGA and they only have Pitt left on the schedule. Get em Holstein.

He whipping up on ACC teams, let’s see how it goes against the top teams from the BIG 10 or SEC.

When was the last time you saw a Bama LBer tackle the runner and take them backwards? Why does Jalen and others run so hard to get out bounds instead of running harder for another yard or two.
Lenny Patrick would have been a star in Kalen's offense with his East to West runs. Coach Bryant was more into North and South runners.

They are already getting paid and championships, winning, pride doesn't mean as much as self preservation anymore.
The effort across college ball is down across the board.

Sark took over from Tom Herman, not Nick Saban.
And also inherited three top ten classes (three of which were top three and many we recruited also). Unless we're moving the goal posts, "Deboer inherited a goldmine of talent" has been the argument here for two weeks now despite most of the standout players being Deboer's recruits.
But sure, let's hire Sark because he'd definitely take this team (which has been showing cracks for three years now) and win 56-0 each week... source: trust me.

Sark is 0-2 vs Deboer and also inherited a roster that consisted of players from three top 3 recruiting classes. Yet he went 5-7 in his first season at Texas with a laughably cupcake schedule.
Good point about Sark's record against DeBoer.
The problem I have is figuring out how much of it was due to his veteran rosters and coaching staff. Remember, critical components of his UDub offense staff ended up going back to Seattle because their wives didn't want to live in Alabama (allegedly). Notably the OC and OLC that arguably were 2 of the 3 most important coaches on his UDub staff along with Shephard. Grubb seemed to have a bit better playcalling feel than Sheridan thus far. Admittedly, I'm locked in watching Bama games and only watched UDub games on occasion with not the same level of scrutiny. Washington's OL looked much better at executing their run concepts than we have thus far. Probably a situation where they're purely less gifted but they were more in the size class of OL than this system needs. Our linemen look slow on pulls at times and that is a big part of the DeBoer run scheme.

It's extremely frustrating watching this team. But it was the same way last year honestly with Saban. Lots of penalties and offensive woes. Defense was adequate. I'm starting to really appreciate the job Kevin Steele did now.
It's obvious two major major issues really holding this team back. First and foremost is the defense. Idgaf Womack ain't it and when we lose two more games this year he will be shown the door.
The other is that milroe is feast or famine. I don't think he fits well with what Deboer offense wants to do but he has the locker room and truly is a great leader so you are stuck with him good and bad. Let's just hope he goes pro as I don't think I can stomach another year of this. The sacks and lack of vision are atrocious and honestly Ryan Williams bailed him out of a couple really bad throws that turned into TD's. Milroe feels like a faster Jalen hurts right now.
We need a slightly mobile but great passer to distribute the ball and actually be able to run the ball instead of having to score every possession to keep defenses off balance.

Was thinking the same thing. But I did love seeing Lannings emotion last night after beating tOSU.

This fanbase has embarrassed itself over the past couple of weeks...
We are only halfway through the season.
Lane still hasn't won a big game and Lanning just won his first big game in year 3. DeBoer has beaten Lanning I believe 3 times with lesser talent and has already knocked off UGA. Lane hasn't proven much outside of being able to utilize the portal but it's not always reliable, see FSU.
In what way? No one else is Nick Saban, every coach has their own standard that they preach. Does Kiffin actually have a similar culture to Saban? How many close wins and comeback wins did Saban have last year?
Yeah let's hire a guy with barely any experience, let alone experience in the power 4, and give him the keys to the program. I'm sure you'll be patient enough to go through his growing pains for 3-4 years.
Sark is in year 4 and took until year 3 to get it going. Lanning is in year 3 and finally won his first big game. After taking over an already successful UGA squad, Kirby went 8-5 in his first year and got the ball rolling. He also got to beat up on the historically low SEC East at the time.
Alabama has a lot of similar problems as they did last year. That tells me it's some on coaching and some on the personnel. DeBoer has an incredibly tough job this year and the college football landscape is now vastly different. I'll see how this season shakes out and give him time with the guys he brings in before calling for his head.
People who thought this would be a seamless transition and making every little comparison to Saban were always going to be severely disappointed.

It’s his culture. I’m worried about. Playing down to inferior teams is not an enviable characteristic.
I do think he was the best coach available though.
