And I mean this by lack of touches. He only had more than 15 carries in a game twice last year(16, 18) but still hit 1000 yards. Against Florida State Bo averaged 2.7 YPC while Harris averaged 4.75 when you take away the large run.
He isn't this bulldozer physical specimen, but he's still bullt(listed 5'11 221). On top of that, he's still a better all-purpose back and has elite vision that Scarborough doesn't.

I don't mind the RB by committee approach.
Harris will get his touches.
He is our starting rb after all.

It doesn't seem like our running game ever gets into a rhythm with the committee approach. Damien was on fire and they pull him for Bo and Najee goes in for a series and goes out. Not sure what Daboll is trying to do. Of course, having no respect for our passing game doesn't help.

I think people are putting way too much stock into what our offense looked like in the first game of the season against one of the best defenses in the nation.
Its the typical Bama fan melt when our team doesnt look like the best thing to ever take the field. People need to relax and enjoy a win for once.

I can answer that. He is trying to keep them all as happy as he can. If he doesn't play them then their will be division in the locker room and likely more transfers at the end of the year.

And yet, it produced two Heisman winners.

Damien Harris is our best RB as far as production goes. I don't understand why he doesn't get more carries or credit.
When Coach Saban was asked about Harris, he had to bring up Bo. At the podium, when they were accepting the trophy, Bo was front & center laughing it up with the leather helmet. I didn't even see Damien.
In this game, Damien had 9 carries for 73 yards, for an average of 8.1. He scored a TD and had a 34 yard run.
Compared to Bo who was 15 for 40; 2.7 average and no TD.
He was also the player that blocked the punt in the 3rd quarter.
I follow him on twitter, and I don't agree with his politics, but he is one of Bama's top players. He kind of reminds me of Ingram.

Ingram and Henry were guys that were our main workhorses. When the passing game was faltering or the D was gassed, those guys put the team on their shoulders which is why they won the Heisman. It just seems like we have gotten away from that 1-2 punch we used to have when you had Ingram-Trich, Trich-Lacy, Lacy-Yeldon. Jalen was that guy last year so our game has changed.

quote:I hope not. Scarborough is gone after this year which would make Damien the #1 back. He will probably be the top dog for a year and then bounce leaving Najee as the top guy for a year. They will all get their touches and a chance to be the top guy. It should be well known that when you come to Alabama, you have a chance to contribute as a freshman, but you will likely not be a top player until year 2 or 3.
If he doesn't play them then their will be division in the locker room and likely more transfers at the end of the year.

What's so funny is that in the playoffs we were having the exact opposite discussion. "Why is Harris getting so many touches when Bo is clearly the more dominant back?"

Harris should have gotten a lot more carries in the playoffs.

I don't remember anyone saying that. Maybe I'm an a-hole though. I've been on the Damien Harris wagon for a long time. Dude is fricking good.

My son and I were talking 'bout that while watching the game...has great vision and good lateral movement; he is patient in waiting for the hole and then exploding thru it...I think he's our best back...
Hope Jacobs gets back in the mix soon as well...he's another that kinda reminds me of Ingram...

This forum went from hating on Harris to loving him in like 4 days.
I think our running backs have different strengths. Which is good, because any one of them could go off in any game. That's why having 4 high caliber running backs is a good thing. One may not be the right fit every game, but another one probably will.

You guys didn't even mention that he hasn't lost a fumble his entire career at Alabama...bet Saban knows it.

Damien had 9 carries against Washington and 5 against Clemson. Bo had 19 and 16 respectively. I don't think anyone ever commented on Harris getting too many touches because he never got any.

I thought he was our best back last year...people said he didn't have breakaway speed, mentioning that he was caught from behind twice in the USC game...think people forgot the guy who chased him down both times was Adoree Jackson, maybe the fastest guy on the field...

Damien looked better than Bo early last season, but Bo looked better at the end. They are both good. Just let them split carries. TBH it will get worse when JJ25 is back. He is my favorite of the bunch.
