I don’t want him as our next coach.

Make it Cristobal or Pruitt

Surely you jest, sir. That man was the beginning of the end of Bamas dominant defenses. As bad as Golding is he unseated Lupoi... marinate on that for a moment. Scary.

That's not what happened. Injuries screwed the defense more than anything. I don't care for Golding but we have been a Mash unit for 2 consecutive seasons.

No. Please no.

Save that fake "holier than thou," crap for Auburn fans. The good lord doesn't give one iota of care as to who wins a football game.

Please spare me the "little ole' Bama" speech.

He may very well be the eventual successor to Saban & I realize he's won a couple titles at Clemson but if he pulls that goofy "we get no respect, lil ole Bama card", he'll get laughed off the campus. That psychological bs worked there but will be a complete embarrassing phrase in Ttown.

Its kind of crazy how big that 1 game last night was regarding the perception of Clemson.

Instead of extending their win streak to 30, and claiming their 3rd title in 4 years, they instead got demolished on the big stage for the 2nd time in 4 years, and their streak is now zero. Crazy.

Its obviously still impressive what they've done, and they are still recruiting as good as anyone in the nation, but there was a lot on the line for them last night.

You all must be too young to remember Bear's "We'll be lucky to win" press conferences about every opponent we ever played - from Tennessee to Tennessee-Chattanooga.

And if Saban retired tomorrow and Dabo announced he's coming, you'd all be typing with one hand.

Coach Bryant didn't say stuff like, "we might as well be playing LSU on their home field." The greatest coach of all time wouldn't give his opponent that satisfaction.

Anyone recall coach Saban crying that we had to play LSU in the sugar bowl in '12'? Maybe someone caught him whining on video like Dabo in '18' when we had to play Georgia in Atlanta?

See, that's the thing...nether of you guys can point to a single football-related reason why you wouldn't want him.

I can.

He would not have made the playoffs this year if he played in another conference. That Clemson team would have lost multiple games if they were in the SEC West.

And even while having those easy games, Clemson still manages to lose or almost lose them seemingly every year.

I read yesterday that in order to get 5 top10 opponents in the regular season for Clemson, you have to go all the way back to a FSU team with Jameis Winston as their QB. Like 6 fricking years.

Further than that, what playing that easy schedule does is it allows you to hide faults and such from other teams. Like Alabama last year played Miss St. And while Miss St didn't have the offense to compete and was shut out that year, they did have a good enough defense to show other teams, Clemson among them, what could be exploited for Alabama. And they applied that. Meanwhile, nobody really challenges Clemson or exposes their flaws.

Futhermore, he was done at halftime in that game last night. His halftime interview reminded me of Brian Kelly when we played Notre Dame in 2012. He knew he had no answer for it.

I think his success is as much for circumstances than it is actual coaching. Not to degrade their accomplishments too much, they still are a pretty damn good team, and they've seemingly replaced FSU/Miami for ACC recruits, but he's probably the most over-rated coach in college football right now.

That sounds humble more so than whiny. Dabo cries to the media about not getting respect and such, he doesn't say humble things like that.

Wanting Dabo actually sounds like a very pre-2007 thing. "He played for us...he coached under Stallings...he's from here...etc".

You'd be correct if you actually used the real reasons why people want him.

You can't name 1 Bama guy who accomplished what Dabo has between 1983 and 2007.

That stuff resonates in locker rooms. He's doing that to motivate his team. Not much difference between him and Saban in that regard.

Stallings used to do this same shite.

"Well gosh'a'mighty, I dont know how we're gonna contain that Vanderbilt awffenyense."

The difference is that he was praising the other team. How good they are/were.

Dabo complains about his team getting no respect; they've just as good as Alabama; etc. It comes off as whining.

Who gives a shite? He's doing what he feel works for HIS program. If he thinks riling up his locker room by playing the disrespect angle helps performance, there's no need for us to be on a high horse about it.

Also, anyone who thinks he'd pull the same shtick in Tuscaloosa is a FOOL. He knows what does and doesn't work here...

Dabo is a goober, and you might want to take a look in the mirror before calling anyone a fool.

Football isn't rocket science. Ed fricking orgeron just won a national championship. But, you're not going to convince anyone but youself that Dabo "bring your own guts" Swinney is doing anything but being the complete goober that he is.

It really all boils down to winning. If he came here and won big his whole schtick would suddenly become "just Dabo being Dabo" and almost charming to all the people who are adamantly against him ever being the coach here. If he came here and struggled he would wear out his welcome in a hurry though.

It's a no brainer hire. We had the same leather helmet crowd when we passed on Bobby Bowden and hired a string of Bear disciples trying to recreate someone who couldn't be recreated. I appreciated 1992 but hope we don't make the same mistake in the years ahead.

Sorry, but that is just bull. Clemson best the B1G champ in the playoffs - the same B1G champ that won every conference game they played bu double figures.

Clemson 2019 wins the B1G.

You saw what happened to Oklahoma, Clemson wins the Big12.

The Pac12? Is there even a need to list them as a conference?

As would have every other playoff team.

Clemson in any division or conference other than the SEC West ends up in the same place with the same result.

It's the opposite of humble. It's the Southern way of belittling your opponent.
