It shows you that it isn't a talent problem, it's a schematic problem. On that 3rd & 5 play late in the fourth quarter, CFN highlights the fact that we were in a 1-4-6 alignment with our two best pass rushers (Turner and Anderson) lined up inside against their guards instead of on the outside against their tackles. We didn't even have a spy on their QB (who had been gashing us for much of the game) when we brought five guys on a blitz.

They're just telling us what we've known for 5 years now, that Pete Golding sucks.

Just watched that. I’ll bet going back through film we see a lot of similar things.

Makes complete sense now as to why we’re getting run on so much.

If they do this the Ole Miss game they’ll run it for 350 on us.

I’ve noticed Anderson on the inside many times this year. Made no sense at all. He’s an edge guy, putting him inside takes him out of the play.

Yeah I pointed that out in a previous thread. Daniel's went for what 20+ yards on the play?

Golding is a moron. I mean I saw this issue when the defense lined up. How come Saban or someone else didn't see it and call a t/o?

Yep - I’ve noticed it as well, and it seems especially prevalent this season.

Pre-snap, Anderson and Braswell/Turner will shift from a two-point stance on the edge into a four-point stance right next to the NT/DT.

And don’t even get me started on the stunts we utilize on the DL; they are atrocious.

It's not just Golding. It's the same system we've used since 2007. Once the offenses evolved and the running QB became more of a threat, our defense has struggled. When we face a team with comparable talent (or a competent OC), we struggle.

Golding puts the plan together and calls the plays. Saban approves these plans I know, but man how does this happen.

I am just not sure how we continue to employ Pete Golding

Saban hears all the calls.

We have seats left the middle of the field open when our lbs disappear. That is why we are gashed by the running qb. He just has to take one look at where the lbs are.

They did some crazy stuff last year too. They lined up Anderson in the 3 tech multiple times which was a head scratcher.

BoB and Golding are equally terrible.

Both need to be fired as soon as possible.

At this point I don’t know how Pete and Bob would be here after the season. Putting our best edge rushers on the inside where all leverage is lost on the outside is madness.

In reality we do need to finish strong and win the rest of our games plus smash Clemson if we play them. Propel into next year with some spirit.

Bama has some MAJOR ISSUES in our coaches. Saban has GOT to cut ties with both Coordinators. Saban has GOT to be smarter about who he hires. If these guys can break us down like this, What do you think other coaches are doing? What do we even pay our coordinators for?

Pete needs to be a consultant to the developers of Madden because some of that stuff is straight out of a video game.

Sometimes the theoretical should stay in the ether and not become part of the physical world.
This is one of those times.
