yeah. I don't see why he wouldn't be good to go for an analyst job considering, as you note, analysts don't recruit, or at least don't actively recruit off campus.

Simple answer is any penalties attached to a show cause will apply no matter what title he holds at a new program. I really doubt anyone will roll those dice.

More complex answer is that nobody really knows the types of accusations that are being levied. Compliance departments (and probably the SEC office) are going to be very leery of hiring someone you know is facing charges until you know exactly what those charges entail.

Show cause penalties range from not allowed to coach period (rare) to not being allowed to recruit off campus (more typical). If Pruitt gets the latter he absolutely will be scooped up as an analyst somewhere.

Putting years to each era, I'm guessing it would look like this.

Era 1: 07-08

Era 2: 09-13

Era 3: 14-18

Era 4: 19-retirement

The funny part is Tom didn't fail at Texas and somebody should throw money at him. He had 4 winning seasons, 3 top 25 finishes and won four straight bowl games all while dealing with Texas boostera. He just couldn't beat OU and was kind of a tool.

Herman seems like a good fit for orange UT-jr. And with his $25M buyout income they can afford him. Paint the rock: "UT's back!"

I can't find the video, but someone posted a clip of the NY Giants president John Mara talking about hiring Joe Judge:
quote:

I knew he was at Alabama. When I saw him go to New England's staff … when you train under Nick Saban and then you end up on Bill Belichick's staff, that's something you take notice of. That's how he got on our radar.

That just goes to show you that Saban has transcended the NFL/college divide. He's putting the most players in the league, he's putting coaches in the league, and he's winning championships at an unheard-of clip.

I'm just happy I'm here for it.

I agree with this. I’m saying programs won’t move on him until they know - which may be months away.

I think you could hire and then put something in the contract regarding NCAA show-cause penalties. Obviously if he's not allowed to be employed by a university it's easy to let him go. I think it will probably take a lot longer than a few months. The NCAA moves at a snail's pace. It may be this time next year before we know anything.

The other factor is Sankey. He has held up Freeze from behind rehired in the league and he probably will do something here as well, now that I think about it. So I don't think it will necessarily be the schools being afraid of a hire as much as the commissioner putting his foot down.

When Najee came off the field, he usually went over and stood by Butch Jones and they would talk a few minutes. It always looked like a serious conversation. I just assumed they were talking about what was going on out on the playing field.

Not sure if it is really news at this point, but:

SI has since learned that Graham has spent time with Nick Saban and Bill O'Brien over the past week.

While Graham is in wait and see mode, VR2 on SI has been told that Alabama is optimistic of closing a deal with him soon, but Tennessee could also announce a head coach in the coming days, which could allow Graham the opportunity to stay in Knoxville.

I don't know if I trust him if he is waiting to see if Tenner hires a coach. Sounds too much like a VFL .

So with Tenner hiring Heupel it might have an impact on Graham. Heupel's RB Coach at UCF had already taken an OC position elsewhere. If Heupel wants him I am speculating he stays cause he is VFL but you know Saban can be persuasive .

Let’s get Huff to give Graham a phone call and explain what it is like to work for Saban. Seems like he could help Graham understand why it would be a great move.

Honestly rather have Boulware if we could get him.

He has had some really good kick returners at Texas and OU. The potential for top level kick returners are all over this class, Earle, Leary, Wheaton, Kool-Aid - I am really excited about the possibilities on Special Teams over the next few years. If we could get back into the punt and field goal block game that would be awesome too.
