Arizona State signed the worst class in power 5. They are definitely having it bad.

Auburn would have to be incredible stupid to fire Harsin and etc, because right now they're paying $73 million for two separate coaching staffs. That's lot of money and No way they can afford to pay a third coaching staff. They can try and fire him with cause but It's going to bite them in the end.

It looks like it's a done deal. They're going to fire him for cause over whatever the morals clause is in his contract. He will sue them for wrongful termination and breach of contract and they'll settle with him for half of what they owe him as soon as they're not paying Gus anymore.

What did he do that would justify his termination?

Word is he had been fricking a Boise cheerleader, who he hired out there to be his "secretary" and then brought her with him to Auburn where he continued to frick her while on the clock. Also, all of the players and staff despise him. Basically they did zero vetting for whatever reason. It's their version of Mike Price's date with Destiny.

Auburn is leaking more stuff trying to dump Harsin for cause.

One of the early names being floated for his replacement is Matt Rhule. Supposedly, he wants back into college.

That would be a surprisingly good hire. I don't see it happening though. The fallout from this, especially if their AD is canned along with Harsin, will likely take a while to sort out. You know the booster infighting will be turned up to an 11.

ESPN article regarding Harsin

quote:

"It was almost like they were building a case beforehand," another source, who is close to Auburn officials, told ESPN

quote:

"The same guys who didn't want to hire [Harsin] now want to fire him," a source told ESPN.

quote:

The cost to buy out Harsin's contract with Auburn, if he's fired without cause, is $18.3 million, as 70% of the money for the five remaining years of his contract is guaranteed

Auburn would have a very hard time hiring a new HC. If they fire Harsin, who's gonna take that gig? Steele? Freeze?

If they fire Harsin they're hiring Steele. I don't think there is much question about that.

Greene is gone, new President, guys who wanted Steele/didn't want Harsin get Harsin fired. It's easy to see who will be making that hire and easy to see what they want. And it's attainable.

Yea. Coaches can see what Auburn is doing right now to their current coach. Not a good look.

Steele gets buyouts from auburn and Tennessee in the same calendar year. Retires. Comes back to coaching as DC at Maryland. Leaves weeks later for Miami. Leaves weeks later for Auburn as head coach. That’s a damn ride.

As lucky as the boogs are. This is the exact thing that would happen. I want to see the on a 4 year rotation like Tennessee of hiring/firing and wallowing in mediocrity with no hope of even playing competitively against us.
