I dont care what UM pays him.... Coach Saban deserves to be the top paid College Football Coach* (IMO).

*Especially if we win it all again this year.

I'm sure we'll put him over Harbaugh so he can remain the top paid coach.

If we did it by exactly $1 that'd be hilariously awesome.

Saban will be well compensated again, that's for sure. Whatever we pay him will never be enough for what he's done for the University.

A fool and his money...

In case you don't understand - the fool in this instance is Michigan.

Michigan fully expects JH to do what NS has done at Alabama. NS was able to do at Alabama what he did because of the SEC and what all those other schools brought to the table. The B1G has 3 schools at the most. JH will bolt back to the NFL or be fired before they make the playoffs.

I've gotta disagree. It won't be hard to get Michigan back to the top. If he can beat tOSU at the end and get to the B1G title game, he can make the playoffs here and there. Maybe even win a title. It won't happen over night, remember Saban went 7-6 in 07.

Maybe Michigan are fools. I dont care. Coach Saban is GOAT (or will be). He deserves to be #1 paid College Football Coach IMO.

Saban should and most likely will be the highest paid coach regardless of whether he wins it all again this year. And by much more than $1.

We lost in the consolation sugar bowl last year and he got another new contract. He will get whatever he wants - because he earned that shite IMHO when he won the second Natty in NO.

21-0. Blank fricking check.

After ND natty the next year - here is a complimentary pen to fill out that check.

So we should basically treat this like the cold war? They build a one more nuke than us so we should build one more than them. What do we accomplish by this?

I'm all for letting it blow up in their face with a mediocre showing over four years. Unless Harbaugh gets another one in a generation talent like Andrew Luck, I don't see him blowing up that conference. Meyer is much more entrenched as well and is at the point where he has the recruits to fit his scheme. Going to take Ole Jim a while to get that and by then he'll likely be going back to the NFL.

OK but Michigan has no depth atm. It'll take several years to build that.

You can expediate that by taking a note from the book of Saban and process the players who don't buy in. Fans of Ohio State use to always make fun of Bama for that. Now guess why they no longer do.

Harbaugh benched Alex Smith for basically getting a concussion. I don't think he will be scared to process some kids.

I think so too, but we have to be fair here. Everyone else said the same thing about Saban.

I don't think they care all that much about national championships. Their legendary coach never won one. I think they just want to beat OSU and win the Big Ten so they can go to the Rose Bowl.

I think great coaches like Harbaugh bring a culture shock. I would be surprised by more than 8 wins next year. But he will have UM rolling by year two.

This. Harbaugh will have them playing well above their heads and will be bringing in top 5 classes. Will still need luck to win it all but this is a home run hire on par with CNS. As a fan of college football and a MI property owner I am thrilled to see it too!!!

@Johnubacon: BREAKING NEWS: Straight from UM AD Jim Hackett. Harbaugh's salary will be roughly $5M a year, plus incentives, same basic contract as 49ers.

CNS does deserve to be the highest paid coach as long as other coaches are being paid within reason. If some school decides to pay their coach $15 mil/yr, it would be stupid on our part to top that so that CNS would still be the highest paid

It turns out he's getting 5 million a year.
