Coker. He’d just transferred from FSU and everyone assumed he’d beat out Sims(me included). Sims won the job and was mostly very good but some of the limitations cost us when it mattered most.

Coker started the next year and was still in a qb battle until after the Ole Miss game. We had Derrick Henry in his best season that year though so we were able to make it work and Coker did enough good and limited mistakes to get us to the promised land.

After that we went on a fantastic run of QBs up until Milroe.

I remember my brother and I went to A Day the season before Sims took over. He was the heir apparent and I remember walking back to our car telling my brother, "We're f***ed if Sims is the QB". I think Lane worked miracles with him.

Jake Coker played with pride. He was one tough dude. He would put his body on the line for a first down. Grit. One of my all time favorites.

He had this one run against TAMU that I think really helped solidify his hold on the QB position. That play and his fourth quarter v. Vols were big for him. He’d been benched earlier in the season, so it really did feel meaningful when he made these big plays before the bye week.

He was gritty and played tough. Respect to him. He was also just limited a bit at the position. He did enough to not lose us any games and ride the Henry train.

Maybe I have missed something as I have not kept up with UA football, but did something happen with Jett Thomalla?

He ran over an LSU LB worse than that.

I remember that now that you mentioned it but that one against Aggy got the boys bought into him. Coker was not our most gifted QB but he had that dog in em as the kids say.

I'm pretty sure He was benched in the Ole miss game. Some said he was sick. some said Saban was trying to send a message to Coker. in that game Alabama was down 17-3 when Coker came in, and nearly won the game right there. Two weeks later, his performance against Georgia was the key.

So weird that anyone would downvote a simple question. I'm pretty sure he's been in Tuscaloosa this summer and barring something crazy happening, he'll probably be the 3rd team QB this Fall.

He kind of reminded me of Ty Simpson in the A Day game. He made several nice throws and had a couple of nice runs. He's a much better athlete than some think.

Pretty sure this is fake. First of all, it doesn't use his legal name Coleman Williams. Second, it doesn't give off the feel of the guy relative to how he's acted off the field. Third, if this really was Ryan Williams Coleman, he'd have a hell of a lot more followers than 2000.

His dad is a Fambly member, so not surprising he's an a-hole.

Not sure what their relationship is like, but I would not take it well if my dad went on social media to talk shite about my employer and tell people how much I make.
