I'm not understanding the point of his post.

Want to know how we took Bama to the bank?

2nd highest paid player on the team.

And?

We been killing it for class of 2028. Think we deserve to start the thread for 2028?

Bama will sign a top5 class, possibly top3 like they did the three years prior to this year’s “small” (cheap) class that has sidewalk fans on the ledge.

The 2028 class will make CKD’s first class (finished ranked 2nd/3rd overall) look pedestrian.

I'm guessing you went to zero of the closed scrimmages. A Day is an exhibition. Hell, Kaawa looked better than Keelon in the scrimmages.

Felt it was obvious because they’ve been taking 2028 recruits for a long while now. However it is still a risky strategy if things don’t look promising on the field in 2026.

All the sudden you got on-roster guys shaky and commits shaky. However, I think DeBoer can put a credible playoff threat on the field every year in this modern era. A lot of the stuff we do with formations is tough on defenses with poor discipline. Defense has been good at bending but not breaking. The game has become more like the NFL due to less depth and more running clock. Those two things are critical. Make the opponent your own tool towards melting the clock with drives not ending in TDs. Try to create mistakes by formation and patterns in the pass game, operate effectively in 2 minute.

But what is the alternative? They aren’t using this strategy bc they think it is superior to taking the very best players they can possibly get in each and every recruiting class.

The reality is that they have a budget, and you can either pay VERY talented young players who are ALREADY on the roster and are producing… OR they can focus on appeasing the fans by bringing in a top5 class every year at the expense of losing the elite players they signed the last 3 years.

I’m pretty confident that fans would have a FAR more difficult time having to watch Ohio State poach Michael Carroll and Jireh Edwards than they would with a low ranked recruiting class that was preceded by three consecutive top5 classes and soon to be sandwiched in between another one with this 2028 class that might finish at CKD’s best yet.

My concern with risk is precisely because it requires threading a needle to be competitive with those who can buy at leisure every cycle.

It’s not about if I think there is an alternative that is viable. It is simply pointing out it is a risky way to have to operate.

Old but you can see why some players took time to get on the field . Makes you appreciate the DBs who could do it as freshmen
