Barn bound
Bama can’t beg borrow or steal any good DLs anymore.

Alabama’s in-state recruiting is still so bizarre to me. I think I read this kid is an Alabama fan and grew up an Alabama fan. Also haven’t heard much from Auburn’s side with him, other than they want him, so I imagine another big time school has caught his eye.

Commits way early. His profile blows up with a huge season and becomes a national recruit. I would imagine everyone in his ear now.
What’s funny is he had some words about people who waffle and decommit when he made his announcement last year.

Barring a rash of injuries, Bama is in pretty good shape this coming season with defensive linemen. Problem is, most will be gone after 2025.
I’m extremely concerned we’re going to get crumbs if things don’t improve in the next 6-9 months. We can’t sign guys that are pure projects or played at some 1A school that MIGHT be ready to contribute in 2-3 years. Need guys who can play right away. Not necessarily start but can contribute now.

I think that’s why we brought in a couple JUCO guys in this class. Probably will have to shop in the portal for some guys as well.

Agreed but it kills me seeing the Barn get pretty much every good DL in the state. I’m assuming they have a massive NIL budget?

It's not hard to predict what will happen with the 2026 in-state class. A virtual repeat of what happened the last time. The barn systematically picks off our commits one-by-one. Then the Bama staff goes elsewhere to pluck some replacements away from the Mizzus and Arizona States of the world. Then some of the die-hard apologists come on here and try to rationalize how in-state recruiting isn't that important anymore. It will be a Top 5 class with bottom 100 DL guys.

Ok Eeyore. It’s a long way until signing day. We’ve had one bad recruiting season in state and still ranked #2 nationally. Everything will work itself out.

Couple of questions for you, and I hope logic doesn’t offend you.
- If Alabama can’t rely pretty consistent on in-state recruits to fill a nice niche in its signings on a yearly basis, from where should they hang their hat?
- If Alabama doesn’t have the resource$ to sign more than its fair share of guys that the Oregons, Auburns, Texases and Ohio States actually really want, do you expect Alabama to consistently compete for championships?
As I have said repeatedly here, it’s just not fun anymore. I am here monitoring the situation as it relates to others coming around to my way of thinking. It also doesn’t bother me anymore. The whole d**med thing has become a laughable joke.

Much of the college football world already knew about 2026 IMG Academy defensive lineman Preston Carey when Alabama extended its offer.
Since dominating four-star and five-star athletes at an LSU recruiting camp before his ninth-grade year, Carey earned 41 scholarship offers, securing the attention of programs from Georgia and Florida to Ohio State, Notre Dame and Auburn.
