I understand NIL is a big factor with the classes we continue to get even the last few under Saban NIL was involved. But it seems at UA we do not publicize it like so many others do to get attention. It seems once you let everyone know what you are willing to pay publically every kid is going to expect the same.

I have to admit NIL has changed my attitude about the game. I get it that it's a crap load of money and some of these kids don't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of, BUT the greed and obsession with the $$$$ gets a little old.

They should start. If you want the best talent you have to buy it

These players aren't greedy and aren't obsessed with money. No more so than any of us who put money at or near the top of any career decision we make.

These are professional football players, and they're looking for the right combination of short term financial gain and longer term NFL development, it's a tricky balance.

Like many of us who have made decisions regarding our careers, some of these players will make good decisions for their future and others won't.

College football is a professional sport now with millions at stake for coaches and now players. I fault the players for making moves based on money no more than I fault the coaches or athletic directors.

NIL hasn't changed my attitude about the game. The transfer portal has.

If you recruit well and prioritize where you will spend your money concerning your targets you don't have to get in bidding wars.

Schools who do will blow their budgets and have serious roster holes unless they have an infinite supply of money.

Agreed. We haven’t be real. Just look at Kiffin. He leans heavily on transfer portal and it’s paying off.

The transfer portal is a lower transactional cost. The coaches aren’t spending 3 years wooing kids, parents and HS coaches. The decisions are reasonably fast and you know what you’re getting in terms of talent.

I think Norvell & FSU illustrates the flip side of that coin. When you bring in a ton of mercenaries who haven't bought in to the program you get a bunch of guys not giving a damn when things go south.

Incorrect chief. Professional athletes have contracts which protect both parties.

I'm a professional. I don't have a contract. There's lots of professions that aren't contracted and now we have one more, college football.

Thank God they bought him and not our guy.

Pretty much recruiting at this point doesn't even stop after they sign so you can't really be comfortable with anything
