My nephew just came into my office and signed his letter of intent to play at Army West Point. He is waiting to have a signing day in February so he can sign with my other nephew, who is signing to wrestle at the Merchant Marine Academy. I don't think I have ever had such a cool signing day before.

According to who? Mack may leave but Simpson is better. Simpson will be better next season too.

Its insane to want a player that has the potential to have a massive season to leave...because youre scared a true freshman may leave. It would be incredibly foolish for Russell to leave if Ty stays

Thats excellent considering we signed damn near half of the amount of players USC signed.

Russell and Mack will be almost certainly be starting somewhere next year.

It will either be in Tuscaloosa or somewhere else. They’re that good and that’s portal era football.

And I never said I want Ty to leave, I just pointed out what the most likely outcomes would be.

Option 1) Ty comes back and we have a healthy Heisman caliber QB and end up rebuild the QB room behind him

Option 2) Ty goes pro and we pick between Mack and Russell as far as who we want to ride with moving forward and the ‘26-‘27 guys have time to acclimate behind them before being asked to start

I would be stunned to see Ty come back next year. Not saying I want him to leave but honestly, I don’t see his draft stock going up much and honestly, how much different is your starting salary as the first QB picked in the draft in the first round as opposed to later in the first round? Probably not all that much.

That’s a lot of absolutes when you have no idea how Mack or Russel feel about it. People SWORE Ty has been transferring for 3 years now lol

Cool Id love for those guys to stay...but id rather Bama win a title with Ty next season. If he just has half the improvement Joe Burrow had from year 1 to year 2 hell be almost unstoppable

I wish him the best but I can't imagine serving in today's military.

Do “we” as in me and you know for sure how good they are? No.

The coaches do though and theres probably a reason CKD basically prioritized Mack over a Heisman candidate in Sayin and why Russell was the best pure passer in his high school class.

Hell our QB3/QB4/QB5 options a couple years ago all transferred and started at the P5 level and none of them had the arm talent Mack has or Russells release based on what we’ve seen to date or their HS film.

Personally I believe we have our best QB room since Tua/Jalen/Mac and that we could compete for championships with any of them in our current system given the right pieces around them.

But I don’t see any reason to expect they’d stick around as backups for another year given the portal and NIL possibilities. Ty was so unusual they wrote NYT articles about him waiting and passing on other deals.

Just watched the signing show. I found it interesting how honest our GM team was. They openly said they were glad some players decommitted. Like we all figure that but they outright said it

This is a dollar and cents league now. No hard feelings between him and the prospects in question, just business.

I think it’s a fair argument on both sides

I do want a kid with immense ceiling and potential, especially at QB to stay in house
