Yes, coaching in general there is a lot of moving around. However, in this situation he's turned down Alabama at least three times (maybe more) between Saban and DeBoer. That just gives off a perception of there something about Alabama that he didn't want any part of...we'll see.

I get what your saying but you are assuming it was something about alabama he didnt wanna do which may or may not be true.

he turned down Saban to stay with a coach he has been with for a LONG TIME. Was familiar with him and had much more control over what the offence looked like vs something brand new, a coach that can be hard to work for, and an offence that he wouldnt have near as much say with.

combine that to the option to go be a OC in the NFL in a city his family lived in already vs again taking over a new school after a legend. I dont fault or blame him one bit and I think most men would see it the same.

sure there is a pattern of him not coming here but there is no reason to assume that has something to do with Alabama and there is nothing factual out there he has stated to support such an assumption.

Just my 2 cent.
What are you talking about? I didn’t say he was Joe Montana over the middle but I do know 100% sure that 90 receptions from 2 receivers was not all outside and go routes. I also know 90% of the TE catches were over the middle.

In no way am I defending or even praising Milroe on his passing ability. My point remains when you have 10 catches in the year and 50% of those are pop passes MAYBE your production has something to do with YOU.
thats silly. The starting 2 had 90 receptions between the 2 of them and not all 90 of those came on go routes.

Law had 10 receptions (yes he was hurt some) and had 15 TOTAL last year. ADD TO THAT I imagine half of those 10 he had this year were pop passes. at some point part of the issue is the player being THROWN TO

its not about THRIVING
I will never understand the LAW mentality. Dude was an amazing athlete but not a great WR and obviously couldnt or wouldnt switch to RB. He had 3 years in the program and production was about the same all of those years.

sure you could scheme some gadgit stuff for him to try and get him the ball more in space but at this point he is what he is. Can say we "didnt get him the ball" but as a WR you also have to GET OPEN more to have those chances. We get the other 2 starting WR the ball and targets all year so its not like the coaches tried NOT to get him the ball.

Im not bashing the kid at all, Id love for him to stay but people see him as David Palmer somehow when in reality he is a great athlete trying to play WR.
Hah the math doesn’t math on this. Class of 27 is already off to a great start. The other 5* tackle we have in this class is BECAUSE of the new staff as well as a few others like Duke.

Every team is losing players due to NIL it’s not limited to bama or this staff. OSU and Texas for examples. Bama will continue to be in the top 5 classes as long as they keep winning period

So insummary, We lost a In-State 4 star RB and replaced him with a 3 star out of stater - that does not sound good.

In summary we actually replaced an instate undersized change of pace guy that didn’t play rb much in HS with a complementary back that did and has pretty good film at the position. A side note is he is actually a 4* on some sites.

Besides why are we fretting on a guy that clearly didn’t want to be hear most of the season?
Haha one of those doesn’t look like the rest :) nothing going on here look away
quote:

Yeah I watched his YouTube highlights. He doesnt look very impressive at all. I'm just being real. Turbo Rodgers is much better

much better at what? RB? Turbo has 255yds rushing this year and has played much more WR then RB.

if you think he is much better as a flex type/3rd down/WR then sure. As an actual RB its hard to say he is "much better" based on film and the fact he hasnt really even played RB much this year.

Having said that, at the end of the day Im sure the staff would prefer to have kept or keep him since he has been commited but if he doesnt plan to come here then find someone else that does and can fit the role needed. We have a bigger version of Turbo already on the team in Law and we dont seem to really use him much either.
quote:

If the grand sum of the masterful coup they’ve been claiming is a serial flipper and a kid that doesn’t want to play the position we’re recruiting him for, I can absolutely live with that

the position part isnt true per BOL staff, they have insisted he is being recruited with the option to play which ever he prefers (not that it matters a ton at this point). Id love to have him and think he will be a very good player but if he dont wanna be here then enjoy your time over there.
quote:

You have no idea what you talking about. I watched this kid in high school and he had “it”.

LOL so he looked good in HS (like all the kids that get offered by bama) means he will have that same level of play in college against elite competition.

I dont think YOU know sports very well (as you put it)
quote:

Listen...if i attend a school like Alabama. I want to play one position and one position only. Far to much talent coming in for me to be learning different positions. Most of the kids have a hard enough time learning the defense let alone learning a position on the opposite side of the ball. If you think that doesnt stunt ones growth it is what it is. I disagree.

thats fine and all but if doesnt seem like you are going to be THE guy at that position you may or may not be willing to try something else so you can get on the field.

again they are not asking guys like R Foster or Hightower to move positions for a reason, but guys like Kennedy who at his stage is not in the top 2 rotation but athletic enough to do it then why not. Again they are not forcing anyone to do it.

another one that comes to mind is Diggs, he spent an entire year at WR and he did just fine at CB when he moved back.
quote:

You are speculating. He was a freshman so the notion that he wasnt hacking it at his current spot doesn't make any sense with it being his first year. Also he wasnt the only guy moved. C. Leary was moved there as well. Reggie Ragland was a starter and spent some of the spring at TE when he was here.

haha so you proved my point. You think if Leary didnt move to RB for a small while his outcome would be any different? And Reggie fits my example of sometime its not just about athletic ability. He obviously had more going for him then just that.

Most of these kids played multiple positions in HS so moving him around for a SHORT period of time isnt something out of the blue for them nor does it all the sudden stunt their growth at a single position. Hell Smitty worked at CB for a period of time as well, didnt seem to stop much of his growth at WR did it?
quote:

Watching him in high school in Mobile, I thought he would be a starter at Bama by his sophomore year. He’s very talented. I agree, he couldn’t develop because the coaches kept switching him.

not really accurate on the last part. You take a guy and switch positions on him because he isnt thriving in the one he is in so you can afford to do so PLUS coaches dont just tell them to switch, its up to the player to accept the request.

He was a heck of an athlete but sometimes thats just not enough
quote:

He can’t be everywhere at once. I’m sure he’s not coaching up special teamers on rudimentary shite. I think this year above many others we had poor positional and situational coaching.

I don’t believe that for one sec. You can’t get where he is today without knowing EXACTLY what everyone is doing all the time. Plus his controlling personality just wouldn’t allow that type of oversight.
The “wr are not open” excuse is just dumb imo. Either the play is taking too long to develop so there is no time or the route concept is bad. Plenty of speed an talent at the Wr position and as mentioned above you don’t need a Diggs in college to get a deep ball connection
I am Born and raised in fort Walton. Graduated from FWB high in 96. Crestview is a lot nicer then it use to be that’s for sure lol.

I always love the "I know for a FACT" statements yet no proof is ever provided or examples shown.

Nolan Smith???

I read it more as him saying US as in UGA. Meaning he laughs that they are gonna beat bama all 4 years and will then just lose to UGA.

could be wrong thats just how I read it.
hahah so now Alabama and Georgia are teaming up together so they can suppress each others division LOL, even sharing bagmen so we can bring LSU down (as if they were not already down)

LSUrb is always solid gold
